The media could not be loaded. Impressive starter kit. Fit and finish are very good. The price is competitive with other brands, however the durability is questionable. The plastics are on the thin side. However, sturdy because it is square shape. The longevity depends on how one respects their belongings. All settings and accessories function per the description. The heating mat temperature and the thermostat control are relatively accurate (+/- 1° f). The built in timer is optional to use and changes colors depending on the schedule (Off, 8/16, 12/12, 18/6). The selector switch provides feedback with a solid feel and loud click sound so you definitely know you pressed the selector button. So does the entire household. The light intensity settings and timer settings have memory as long as it is connected to a power source. Unplug the power cord and all settings are lost. An external timer is a no go. A power outage will definitely be inconvenient. The light panels lay nicely snug in their designated position. Nothing to secure them in place. Use slight care when removing the lid. Perhaps secure the light panels with painters tape (less adhesive) for easy removal. Test time… The readings will fluctuate by a couple numbers depending on the ambient lighting. I tested the lights in a well lit living room; artificial lighting/natural ambient lighting from windows. I tested the PPFD (umol/m2/s) and DLI with the Photone Pro app with their optional (recommended) diffuser. The phone with diffuser was then placed on top of the seed tray. Sprout level. PAR setting is on Full Spectrum lighting. READINGS: Light intensity = PPFD / DLI (18 hours of light). Intensity 25% = 46 PPFD / DLI = 2.99 Intensity 50% = 87 PPFD / DLI = 5.74 Intensity 75% = 129 PPFD / DLI = 8.48 Intensity 100% = 168 PPFD / DLI = 11.0 *PAR (Photosynthetic Active Radiation) *PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density) *DLI (Daily Light Integral) In conclusion, Thumbs up! ... show more

This thing is the bomb. Plant growth and germination have no choice for those warmer weather plants. It seems very sturdy and the lights are pretty bright. The light has a timer which is great and it even comes with a heating pad. It’s super easy to set up and also fun! Me and my kids loved it. Pros: -Lots of cells for seedlings -tall humidity dome so seedlings can grow -retains moisture well -little slots on dome for lights -good germination rate with the lights -lots of supplies for the price, decent bundle Cons: -not very sturdy, especially the cells. The plastic is thin and crinkly. i won’t be able to reuse the cells more than once or twice. -flimsy cells makes it hard to bottom water as that tray bends a lot with the weight of the soil and water -lights not great past germination stage, my seedlings ended up thin and spindly ... show more

I purchased this to streamline the process and it has done just that. I’m able to place rock wool or soul directly into the tray. The dome with vents is great and I’m able to control the humidity within fairly easily. The leds fit securely into the lid and have adjustable power and timers for all cycles. The heating pad works great! Makes it super easy to keep the unit at a constant temp. It’s a bit flimsy as far as the plastic but that’s pretty much expected. Easy to clean up and start a new round. Works well with seeds but has very low clearance with cuttings. 3" Max. I guess the lights are nice for the first week, but they flop around and generate a ton of heat for plants that barely need any light. Maybe that will be helpful instead of problematic in the winter. The vents don't really vent much. With the dome on and vented it's always 90% humidity at least. Now all the nasty is over, everything has germinated and rooted in under 2 weeks though It was a labor intensive effort keeping the right ranges. This is my third one and my second year using them. These things are like cheat codes. Most things I've planted say on the package they will take one week, 3 weeks, etc etc. with these germination stations I found smoke seeds pop within a few days, one week at most! Now, some seeds are harder to germinate than others. I've had a few now that had low germination rates, but I don't think it's due to these germination stations. These are just notoriously difficult plants to germinate, for example Rosemary and passion flowers. Highly recommend these! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I read threads on Reddit that the heat mat has a faulty temperature sensor and cuts off randomly. I don’t want to go through the hassle of dumping out my trays just to return the entire kit. I also read that a few ppl received replacement mats and it still didn’t work.     • Lights don't retain settings; won't work with external timer.

Honestly unimpressed due to the lights inability to maintain previous settings on power failure. After spending $35 more to get two sets of lights, and then when my other timed lights kick on, these stay off, and i have to manually turn them back on when I see it. Furthermore, if you adjust the brightness, it will also go back to full blast every time you turn them on. I also falsy made the assumption that the lights locked into the lids somehow. They do not. They just casually rest on the lids, which leaves you fighting with them every time you want to open the top. And that is further a problem given how much heat they generate. The heat can be a bonus for germination, and you could maybe get away without a heat mat, it would just he nice if the lights stayed on the lids, preventing the need to touch hot metal. ... show more
