  • Great bang for the buck!
Wife and I decided to try e biking. Didn't want to invest too much starting out. Needed to fit in our SUV. Came down to Vilitan U7 and the lectric xp 3. Got the Lectric for my wife because I believed it was better for smaller riders. Got the Vitilan for me for the larger motor to haul my larger than it should be body up hills. Bike arrived 3 days ago. Was very well packaged and had no damage from shipping. Assembly was simple. Pedals, seat, handlebars, bottle holder, clean brakes and put air in tires. Did not install front rack by choice. Put battery on the charger. Charger does get hot (no fan). Decided to test ride bike without battery. Discovered the derailleur was WAY out of adjustment. Nothing a screwdriver and a google search couldn't fix. Rode the bike sans battery around block a couple of times. Not too bad, but it was entirely flat ground. Finally rode bike with battery. This thing is sooo much fun. Wife and I haven't been on bikes in years. That is certainly going to change. Made several adjustments to setting to make bike more to my liking. Increased the power in PAS 1 (seemed really low) and changed tire size to 22" to make the speedometer more accurate. Top speed has been 24-25 mph throttle only. Impossible to pedal above 20 mph (ghost pedalling). Have tried to change settings so throttle power is not linked to PAS level, without any luck. Side by side with the Lectric xp 3 long range, I can't find anything to suggest that the Vitilan is a lesser quality than the Lectric. In fact, with all the upgrades on the Vitilan it looks to be a much better value! UPGRADES vs Lectric larger motor larger battery wider tires included front rack hydraulic brakes bottle holder color screen suspension seat post and softer seat mag wheels longer warranty I guess the trade off for all of these upgrades is brand reliability and a company that is based in the US. If the Vitilan U7 remains a reliable bike, it is a much better bike for the money than the Lectric. ... show more

  • excellent product
when I looked at e-bikes I was skeptical about the high review scores for the U7, but I have over 100 miles on mine and have yet to have any kind of serious issue with it. there are minor ones: getting used to the controls is important, especially do not exceed speeds where you are unprepared to handle the bike. it is almost as heavy as a small motorycycle (and some reviews complained about that). It does not handle like a bicycle. I do not think it is suited for mountain-bike purposes even if the battery and motor are certainly powerful enough to do it. This is best suited for use on graded dirt/gravel or low-traffic smooth pavement. You need to get a couple of days practice handling it before you do so in traffic of any kind. The youtubes do sometimes mention that if you back off the throttle, the bike does NOT apply the brakes. You have to do that and know WHICH BRAKE to use (do not use the front brake on slippery or sandy surfaces) and you must wear a helmet. Cops in my area lectured me about the latter even on my old e-bike where the battery was gone (hence I was totally pedaling it). I assume that cops have seen e-bike accidents. DO NOT GO TOO FAST on this bike. Keep it within a speed where you can stop and keep control over the bike, in case of some unexpected obstruction. [update] relating to the other reviews and comments: mostly I agree with those... 1) the U7 is a pretty large and heavy frame. it is not for people under 5' 5" unless you have long legs and arms and just a short torso. Otherwise consider a different model or make. 2) at about 70 pounds it is not really that portable. at 2 years or so I have yet to have ever folded it up to take it anywhere. Treat it like a light motorbike, not a bicycle. 3) the upside of the heavy frame is that at speed it is still very stable and smooth. I inflate the fat tires LOW which also makes for a smoother ride and somewhat better on gravel or rough pavement. 4) DO NOT ride this bike on loose material such as dry sand. if your front tire gets bogged down, you are going down. Guess how I know this. 5) I got after market mirrors but so far only mounted the left-side one. it beats the hell out of looking behind me to see what is coming up from behind. Especially with electric cars, you do not want to be surprised when something overtakes you. So I am iffy about riding on busy streets without some kind of rear-facing mirror the lights generally work but I am iffy about riding after dark. Maybe younger people can see better in low light but I am not betting the farm on that. I do run green goop in my tires to keep desert goat-head-thorns from flatting my tires all the time. If you ride where there are thorns, you need to get thorn guards of some kind. in general, despite the fancy display being almost invisible in bright daylight, the U7 is a great bike. ... show more

  • A very sturdy, well made bike
Color: Pink Style: Standard-20ah
I chose this ebike because I needed one that was strong enough to hold my weight and also be foldable to take with me when I travel. It ended up being too heavy for me to lift. I even destroyed the box just trying to get it out of the box. I ordered the pink one, but it is not pink, but a neon coral color that clashes with the pink extras I bought to go with it. Other than that, it is a very nice bike and very well priced for all that you get with it. It took me a while to get the battery out though. The directions were not completely clear and neither were any Youtube videos I found. It was easy once I learned how though. I love that it is also very tall. I am a 5'6" woman with longer legs than torso, so finding a bike that I could ride easily was hard. I was very happy with that. Someone smaller in stature may have problems. The controls are easy to understand and it comes with a nice, large display that is easy to read. All in all, I would recommend this bike for anyone who is looking for a cheap ebike to start out their ebiking journey. But it is too heavy for me to lift being over 70 pounds. That probably wouldn't be a problem for someone younger and stronger. ... show more
