This was an easy turntable to set up, and if you have an old stash of albums and 45s and have a hankering to hear all the music you spent hours as a teen spinning, this is an easy way to go. You wire the speakers up like back in the day, easily done, and you power it on and when you lift the arm the plate spins and when you take the needle off and move the arm back the plate stops spinning. Even my stereo in the '80s and '90s wasn't this nice. The speakers are definitely loud enough for home use, I can't comment on someone wanting to throw big house parties with it, this doesn't seem to be that level of gear. The turntable pieces all look as good as the listing photos, which I appreciate. I didn't even look at the instructions to set it up, just discovered writing this review that it has a Bluetooth function. Don't even need it. It's just so joyous to hear the fuzz and crackle of my fav old albums, this unit is totally worth it and I would definitely gift it to someone. ... show more

When I first unboxed this and assembled it I saw that the stylus would not reach down to the platter (see photo) and it was therefore unplayable. I disassembled the unit to find out the issue and saw that the screws which hold the stylus to the plinth (very flimsy particle board) had stripped out and were dislodged. I repaired it with epoxy and wood glue and stabilized it and made it playable. After that, stylus movement was normal so I continued to test it out - the sound is mediocre at best. Cold, not befitting the speaker size at any volume. The grills are not removable but it feels like there are 3" drivers in each particle board cabinet. Very poor sound for the range. Mine was broken and therefore useless - but even after I repaired it I'm unimpressed. There are better offerings in this space. The platter drive movement, the stylus itself (AudioTechnica) and the wow and flutter are all acceptable and this unit might sound good with a different preamp and different speakers - but that should not be required. This is a great record player. It really sounds good. The speakers are amazing and the build quality is wonderful as well. It's an awesome record player at this price point. It is on the heavier side due to the wood and speakers. I also got a really nice record player stand for it to sit on. It looks great in my office. The record player has sort of a vintage feel to it. Very easy, basic design. It's kind of a no frills set up. If you don't get sound when you put on your first record, double check that the wires are properly clipped in. (Ask me how I know - I had help from a 12 year old who's not familiar with speaker wire and clips). Sounds like an old record player and the design looks great. The wood look is awesome. Vinyl records are the best; commit to listening to a side of music or two instead of randomly searching through 57,000,000,000 songs on a streaming service. More fun. Enjoy it. ... show more

Stated simply, I'm pleasantly surprised with this turntable and speaker combination setup. Given the price point, I didn't expect top-notch, professional quality from the housing and components of the record player and speakers, but the quality of the items included in this setup exceeds what expectations I had. The speakers are durable and produce quality sound, and the turntable itself is sturdy, consistent, and built with a well balanced arm. The result is a table top array that takes minutes to setup... From there, let the records spin! For anyone looking to get into vinyl records, this is a system that will last you years without breaking the bank. Sure, audiophiles would balk at some aspects of the performance and output of this setup, but for a sub-$200 system (with coupon) you'd be hard pressed to find a better value! I've placed this turntable in our den, which is frequently used as a play space for my two kids-under-five. It is great knowing I can enjoy some records in the space when they are out of the house or after they have gone to bed... without having to worry about keeping the toddler whirlwind away from the turntable when they are in the room.
