Pretty much new to vinyl. Decided to upgrade my suitcase turntable to something a little better. Decided on this because of the features, like the anti-skate, tonearm hight adjustment, etc. Also like the look of it, got in white! Did a little research on turntable setup and bought a set up disk. Set up couldn't be any easier on this and everything works as it should. Due to its weight its pretty sturdy. The feet already have built-in in cushions so no need to buy 3rd party ones. Only downside was the tonearm dropping faster than it should. So filled with silicone dampening fluid to fix. Great turntable, don't get why some people spend several hundred to thousands on a "higher end" turntable and still by a preamp and upgrade the cartridge, all the bells and whistles. If you do the same to this turntable pretty sure it will sound the same as that one. ... show more

I recently tried various audiophile type turntables to play my old vinyl records, and time and again they would start skipping on various records. Not a setup issue, it seemed more of an issue with how they handle anti-skating, or in some cases, don't do anything. Anyway, fired this thing up, hooked it up to a 70's Pioneer receiver phono stage, and it's sonic bliss. Such a joy to occasionally clear the digititus out of my ears with glorious analog sound. The crackles and pops are a reminder of how I used to listen to all my favorite music. No skipping, no fussing about, IT JUST WORKS. FWIW, I had Technics 1200s for dj'ing back in the 90s, and this table obviously was inspired by them. Unlike the AT and similar copycat tables, this one has a heft and overall construction similar to my old tables. The icing on the cake is the price, much more reasonable than current or used 1200s. Very happy with the price/performance value, and would definitely buy again. ... show more

Tried ordering the black version but unfortunately it never arrived, so I had to wait a little longer and decided to go with the white! Normally I don’t write reviews but this turntable exceeded my expectations. Very heavy, durable and easy to set-up for those who may be new to this it was a very simple assembly. Sounds great, I upgraded the cartridge to an ortofon Concorde and it performed even better, however the stock pioneer cartridge it comes with is perfectly fine and capable of great sound quality by itself. A great value for the price and I recommend this turntable to anyone who wants something NICE for a fraction of the cost of other turntables out there ... show more

Pioneer use to be a great product but now they are not held accountable nor do they care about the customers, for I was sent this product without the needle device and slip mat!!! Horrible customer service

I was looking for a new turntable for personal use and after extensive research, and being on a budget, decided on the PLX-500. I’ve got it hooked up to a pair of powered Kanto YU6’s, a 10” Velodyne sub, and couldn’t be happier! The sound, features, and overall build quality for the price can’t be beat. If there’s one thing I could change, it would be the outer plastic shell. I guess after 30+ years on my 1200’s, I’m a little spoiled. If you’re looking for a nice new deck at a great price for home use, look no further. Oh yeah, although the pre-installed cartridge does just fine for now, all you ex DJs and audiophiles out there will definitely wanna upgrade. ... show more

I bought this to upgrade my Techniqs sl_5. It took me half of a Willie Colon album to fall in love with this turntable. I dig the 3 speed option, as I've got 78s. Great sound and the direct drive is smooth. The attached rca cables were a bit of an oddity, but not a deal breaker. Usb output was something i was also seeking, but have not yet tested out. There is a preamp built in, or you can bypass it. I'm using it as phono with a separate preamp and have been very pleased with the results. ... show more
