I have been using this product for about a year now and have been overall satisfied with performance, appearance and value. IMO this is the best value on amazon for mens pomade. I like the matte finish as it does not leave my hair looking wet, there is a mild sheen, but not what I would consider shiny. The product does not have a strong sent, but the mild smell is pleasant. The product applies best to damp hair, as ive found it difficult to spread evenly in wet hands in dry hair. This may be to product consistency, which feels similar to wet paste vs the clear firm gel many other manufactures use. Despite the medium hold label, this feels much more firm, again a positive on my end for thick straight hair. I plan to continue using this product as my primary hair product and have been very satisfied. Great value and hard to find anything else that performs this well at this cost. ... show more

I had always ordered this version of Viking Revolution Pomade for quite some time. This exact type of strength hold. So when I had ordered it recently and opened the canister to use the product, the first thing I actually said (out loud no less) was, "wtf? Did I order the right version I normally get? This feels so different..." Here's the thing. The reason why I give this 2 stars and not 1.. The fact is, they DID change the formula. NOT for the better. I will admit. It IS worse. Will it stop me from buying them? Eh, idk, maybe. It makes me want to go back to the overpriced and overpopularized Suavacito Firme hold. For now, this version of Viking Revolution still has a decent hold and gets the job done. However, I will mention again, it is NOT the same as how it used to be. I thought Viking Revolution was the best because of what you got for the price was such an amazing deal. Good luck. ... show more

    • Great Hold, Strange Texture, Weak Scent
The main purpose of a pomade is to hold your hair in place. This pomade does that extremely well. If I was eating this just on hold, it would get 5 stars easily. But I'm also eating it on scent and texture. Hold: perfect. Once you style it, it stays that way until you wash it out. It's sometimes a little hard to wash out as I've had to wash my hair twice a few times to feel like I got it all out. Scent: kind of weak. I mostly just smell something similar to beeswax and a very, very faint hint of fragrance. It doesn't smell bad, it just doesn't add a refreshing scent to your hair like other pomades, such as Suavecito. Texture: this is really the big one for me on this pomade. The consistency of this stuff is really weird. It takes a lot for it to break down so you can apply it and once it is applied, it feels really thick in your hair. It's almost like it doesn't separate evenly to allow equal distribution through your hair. It does the job, and really well, but it's an odd experience. Also, if you're not careful, it can leave clumps of pomade in your hair when you apply it. I scratched my head one day and there was just a clump of pomade under my fingernail from where it didn't break down when I applied it. Like I had just taken a glob out of the jar and placed it on top of my head. But I assure you I rubbed it through very well. If the texture wasn't as thick and tough and if it smelled better, this would be a great pomade. But as it stands, I use it as a backup to Suavecito, which is my go to. ... show more

The new formula matte pomade is great stuff. I use a nickel sized amount and it lasts all day, even after wearing a helmet for a while - just run my fingers through it and it’s back where I want it. I have pretty course hair and this stuff lets me put it where I want it to go. Right after applying it looks like I have product in my hair, but after it’s dry and I run my fingers through it a little it looks pretty natural. Exactly what I’ve been looking for. I love this new formula. I only use a little and it’s natural and stays put. The smell is nice and I love that it isn’t greasy like other brands. Will keep on a schedule to buy more.

Let me start by saying I absolutely love this product. It works insanely well on my hair and how I style it. With that being said, if you are looking for a pomade, I would probably look elsewhere as this is really more of a clay. Now if you enjoy clays with how you style your hair, you will absolutely love this. It has great hold all day and I think it's great value for the money. Just a little bit goes a long way. I find it's best if you take a little bit and rub it between your fingers to soften it up before applying to your hair. ... show more

UPDATE I’ve used this product for a good while now. I was very pleased when I started using it, but it has changed. And then changed again. And then changed yet again. The last four jars of this product I’ve ordered have all had different consistencies and behaviors. Dry and flaky, super wet and sticky, somewhere in between. It doesn’t wash out as easily, either. If they would pick one and stick with it, I could at least review that particular revision and make a decision on if I’d stick with the product, but I never know what I’m getting now. I won’t be purchasing this again and can’t recommend it. OLD REVIEW I've used this a few weeks now and I'm pretty pleased with it. It reminds me a lot of American Crew Fiber, but is a SIGNIFICANTLY larger amount for a lesser price. The texture and appearance of the product isn't what I typically think of when I hear the word "pomade." It has a medium hold and washes out easily.
