  • OK drum sticks.....
Size: 7a
But I like a stiffer shoulder, I could feel flex when riding the ride cymbal.

  • Best stick ever.
Size: 5b
For years I’ve played the Vic Firth extreme 5B for the length but was always put off by how far back the fulcrum was. It made playing way more from the wrist and almost no fingers. With the freestyle 5B having a much longer taper than the extreme 5B, They are able to be gripped in a more conventional way and allow for much more use of fingers over the wrist. So if you are looking for a fast 17” stick definitely go with the freestyle. If you are more of a heavy hitter stay with the extreme series. ... show more

  • I got a dud...
Size: 55A
I love vic firth sticks, been playing them the majority of my life so far (only 22). So it surprised me that after only nine days of getting these sticks, one of them had a gnarly break that totally caught me off guard. I got these as a "hard hitter" stick for the heavier rock stuff I play, along with a lighter AS5A for jazz. So I wasn't really putting as much wear and tear on these sticks as I thought, since i had been switching the pairs frequently for different genres. I'm just gonna tell myself that this was a defective pair since it's a rarity for me to break a stick this early after purchasing. Also you can see there is no splintering or big chips off the stick soo take that as you will. Just wish I could've gotten my money's worth out of it... Btw I'm about to buy another pair of these cause they felt great and were fun to play👍 ... show more

  • My favorite stick so far...
Size: 85A
The Freestyle series sticks are longer than most sticks by approximately 1.5 inches give or take. The longer length coupled with a weight that falls somewhere between a 5A and a 7A makes for a pleasant playing experience. Feels great with ample room to adjust the sweet spot. I love them. They feel great in my hands. ... show more

  • I like the extra length these provide.
Size: 7a
Wish they came in nylon tip though, The wood tips on ANY stick will chip and flake sooner than the stick wears out.

  • Nice sticks for price
Size: 5a
I liked the thickness and the taper on this stick and the weight was good as well. These were good for me for my mesh kit but I am still experimenting with different sticks. I started with zildian 5a nylon and another zildian 5a with rubber on them and I like them as well. I recently ordered vic firth red tip 2b sticks and I like the balance on them firth sticks I like because you can get a fulcrum just about anywhere. Really no negative points to make on these ... show more

  • Extra reach, great cymbal sound, wider sweet spot.
Size: 7a
I'm a jazz drummer, and had been looking for a longer stick that would give me a bit more reach, but still enambed a good sound on the cymbals. Vic Firth's Freestyle 7as certainly fit the measure.
