  • Great rack for the money
Size: 12U
This is a great rack for the money. I was hesitant to purchase this at first because other reviews mentioned: incorrect instructions/confusing, a lot of assembly time, difficult assembly, and flimsy construction. Here are my thoughts on each: Incorrect Instructions: I found an error on page 4. I included a photo of the correction attached to this review, A lot of assembly time: I didn’t think it was too bad. It took me about two hours. I highly recommend and electric screw driver/drill Difficult assembly: Honestly, I feared the worst from the self-tapping screws. However, I was surprised that they actually worked quite well. I only stripped one screw and that was probably my fault. I highly recommend using a screwdriver extension for the hard-to-reach screws. Flimsy construction: Overall, the rack is pretty sturdy and great for light loads. I would probably not fill it full of HP Proliants, though. The wheels do not seem super sturdy, but they have not caused me yet. Overall, great rack for the money. ... show more

  • Useful and Sturdy, with some problems
Size: 12U
The instructions leave something to be desired, the steps of assembly seemed to be in an awkward order, once you get the workflow going it all goes together well - I would recommend a ratcheting screwdriver or a low power electric drill as there are A LOT of screws to put this together. The wheels fall off their posts very easily & are extremely stiff to roll, even on hardwood flooring. Aside from wanting to replace the wheels with the kind that StarTech or EchoGear use, this is a good piece of kit for the price. Knowing what I know now, I would buy it again, with the forethought replacing the wheels during assembly. ... show more

  • Amazing choice for a home lab, server or even gaming to keep things neat
Size: 20U
This rack is great, materials are excellent, and the design includes plenty of support in weak areas like corners. I have no worries this rack will fail in any way. The only drawback as others have stated is the assembly instructions are not only complicated but very hard to read. I found myself looking at online photos for guidance. That said, it does come with plenty of extra screws in case you need to expand in the future. I did find the use of a small screw gun much more desirable than trying to thread these manually, and is also recommended in the instructions. Beyond that quirk this rack is pretty stinkin' awesome. As a network engineer I'm constantly labbing stuff up which requires a lot of hand on. This rack make it easy for me to organize my devices in my home lab. The rack was packed and shipped with excellent protection, so no worries on scratches or blemishes. The adjustable nature of the rack makes this a great choice for a variety of scenarios too. I can expand to fit full size server or be set up to occupy a small corner of a room. Heck it even comes with wall mount hardware. I went for the wheeled floor setup, and I'm impressed with how well it rolls when loaded up. Hands down the best extra feature included is the shelves. I didn't know these were an option for typical racks. I often see use of other devices to get shelf space in a rack. The shelves could be useful for gaming consoles, but I use mine for smaller firewalls where my devices are not rack mountable. I'd recommend this rack to anyone looking to get one to organize their equipment at home, or even in a small office or business. This will be plenty sturdy and I thought it was a fantastic value for what you get. ... show more

  • Updated instructions?
Size: 15U
Everyone is talking about how hard this was to put together and how bad the directions were but it was honestly fine. At one point I stopped reading the directions and just put it together its pretty obvious. It took about an hour in poor lighting with an offbrand ratcheting screwdriver while drinking beer. Probably would have been like 20 minutes with a drill tops but I needed something to do. If you use a drill I would make sure to limit the torque or you're going to strip it out and ruin it. The most tedious part is the little corner reinforcements. It's literally half the job. The holes are fine you are tapping your own threads they aren't wrong. If I had to change anything I would make the rack bolts black instead of silver. Also it comes with a billion extra screws and only 10 rack bolts. I would have rather had extra rack bolts. Also you can't really use the top piece unless you assemble it in it's smallest size MAYBE slightly larger. To be honest I don't think you should assemble it in anything but its smallest size. It DOES say its weight limit is 200 pounds not 500. I think maybe 500 might be for in it's smallest size and as you increase it its weight capacity decreases. It doesn't wobble or anything it feels real solid the way it is. The wheels it comes with seem kind of bad but you can get better ones. It also comes with leveling feet which I don't think was mentioned. For putting it on the floor I probably will just sit it there and not use either. If you are putting it in an unfinished basement with slightly uneven concrete floor maybe use the leveling feet but they are definitely going to scratch up your floor anywhere else. Maybe put some tennis balls over them or something and then you can still slide it around if you have to. They are kind of overly tall at 2 inches completely un-extended seems like they could have been half that. The finish is pretty nice. This is a good way to save on racks that cost 3X the price. Now I can spend my money on actual gear. ... show more

  • Way Too Difficult To Assemble
Size: 12U
The assembly instructions are impossible to understand. It took two of us nearly 5 hours to put together. Screws really difficult to put in. Wasn’t as sturdy as expected with one shelf bending when an amp was placed on it. Not worth the hassle

  • Value brand server rack
Size: 12U
I initially was very frustrated as the product appeared to be incomplete or incorrectly instructed. The instructions didn't help. However, after some trial and error, and looking again, it became pretty intuitive and really is a good value. Just don't try to load it up with much. I wouldn't run more than one server, but it comfortably fits my dell poweredge r720. 200lb load limit, not 500. ... show more
