Over the last few years we have experienced a lot of trouble with predators, to the point that we quit keeping birds here. But, with current egg prices actually reaching $1 per egg, we are going to get back to raising our own. We are rebuilding our old chicken coop, and adding extreme security measures to prevent predation, including electric fence, heavy wire, and this automatic chicken coop door. I like the way that this door mounts to the shed. It is very simple, however it might benefit from adding some spacers or washers behind the frame to make sure the door clears the shed opening. I had purchased a similar chicken door previously but it didn’t have a safety stop feature that this one does. If you interfere with this door closing it stops and reverses to open the door, preventing injury to any bird that might be in the door way. The solar panel seems to be well built, and the cord is long enough to be able to mount it in a favorable spot. The instructions for the controls are printed on the face of the screen area, and are simple to operate. This door can also be operated with household AC power via the included USB-C cable. Hopefully this doesn't hinder the operation of the solar panel. I imagine it didn't leave broken so who knows how many times it was thrown around and if this will cause charging issues or shorten the life of this product. Simply don't expect something to be broken when it arrives. Not much to ask for. ... show more
