I bought this because it had same-day delivery and was cheap. I didn't have high expectations. It worked fine for what I needed, which was SMD soldering on small PCBs. Definitely need to tighten the bolts and wingnuts with pliers. The long, main bar would stay in place more easily if it had some texture to it. Those bolts have nothing to grip, so I had to put a small box under the PCB so I could actually apply any pressure to it. Attached photo: gripping 2.25"x3.25" soldering practice board. Assembled the wrong position for the bottom piece to the base. All adjustable "bolts" are not as tight as they should be even if you "tighten" them yourself. Very cheap so use if you're a beginner and have very low expectations. In fact, you need to almost use a third hand to assemble along with two pliers. I will not buy again. ... show more

I have been soldering for over 40 years and never had one of these - I am so glad I have one now. It makes the difficult joining of wires much easier. - this is when you tin both wires and then solder them together parallel so that you can then slip the shrink tubing over the joint easily.

Base isn’t as heavy as it could be so it can topple kinda easily. The thumb screws are weak which can make the arms wobbly and unstable. The magnifier lens frame is loose and likely won’t hold up to continued use.
