Typical outstanding Makita quality .... but it takes a long time (minutes) to get to max temp. Ok for low temp heat shrink but not for things that need the 800-1000deg heat this gun is supposed to deliver. Not a useful tool for me.

I got it for softening 17mm irrigation drip lines, because I feel it's important to get it pushed 100% over the fitting, otherwise they tend to pop apart, and it goes so much easier with just a little warmth on the tube end. The biggest complaint is the design of the heat deflector nozzles. It would have been easy to make from heavier metal and with more of a firm grip, but they are so flimsy that the thing is falling off constantly. Just a junky design in that regard. I epoxied the one on there permanently that is the only one I use, we'll see how that works. I would have expected a bit better engineering from Makita. ... show more

Very battery hungry, but when my heat went out in my van, this thing saved the day all winter! Prepare to recharge your batteries after 20- 30 minutes of run time. Seems very nicely made. Box is very heavy duty.

I bought both Makita's heat guns, cord and cordless. Yes, the corded one has more heat and more fan power, but the cordless one has enough heat and ok fan power and great mobility option. So, my opinion, if you need it for small jobs like wires or glue/paint removal or bend a pipe or two, it is ok. But if you have big jobs stick with the corded one. For me I'll keep it for great mobility and easy to grab for small and medium jobs, which all I needed for. ... show more

I own nearly every tool, cordless and corded Makita makes,,4 knaack 89 boxes FULL. I was very excited they came out with this. My corded version has been great for many years, held up drops to ground etc. This thing BLOWS, but NOT in a good way! Its garbage. I thought maybe I got a bad one, so I went to dealer here where they sell them, and theres is the same. Makita dealer even told me straight up this is a worthless tool and that Makita never shouldve put this on the market. It takes 5 minutes to heat shrink some 8 gauge wire with this junk!! My old corded does it in seconds. Thank goodness amazon is great about returns! Its going back. ... show more
