  • About 45 minute battery life on HIGH with a 5AH battery!
Style: Heat Gun
I primarily use this heat gun for 1" blue and red shrink tubing. I have used it for smaller jobs, but the point of this review is that this heat gun is a MONSTER on the bigger stuff! It hasn't disappointed yet! HIGHLY recommend this item -for me, it works EXACTLY as expected and handled every task I took on with it! ... show more

  • Very handy addition to 20V XR tool set
Style: Heat Gun
I was looking for a simple heat gun to use for simple heat shrink use. I already own a collection of 20V XR DeWalt batteries so this heat gun was a no brainer addition. Compared to my corded heat gun, this tool does not deliver the high heat (it is battery operated after all) output but it works just fine for its intended purpose. This tool is very effective for heat shrink purposes. I have also tried it with solder wire joint splice and there is sufficient heat to melt the solder and heat shrink the sleeve around it. This tool also makes it very easy to use a heat gun anywhere outside, or any remote location where access to AC power is problematic. You do need to keep in mind that since this is battery powered, your run time will be limited. ... show more

  • Great heat, Less airflow
Style: Heat Gun
👍🏻 Recommended: Despite less airflow than cheaper plug-in guns, this one provides plenty of heat & stands upright to cool off after using. Cheaper plug-in heat guns have much higher airflow & higher temperatures. That being said, sometimes the cheap guns are too hot and blow too much air. This dewalt 20v gun provides plenty of heat for small projects. Less airflow with plenty of heat means you don’t have to worry about burning everything else nearby. You also don’t have to worry about a cooling stand or heat resistant surface to set it down on after using it like you do with plug-in guns. They take forever to cool off & risk burning whatever surface they touch when laying down. ... show more

  • The DeWalt cordless heat gun makes heat!
Style: Heat Gun
The DeWalt cordless heat gun makes heat shrink & such a breeze. Builds heat quickly and it's easy to operate. But it will definitely run thru your battery's so much sure if the job is large to have more than one battery. I really like this heat gun. Value for money definitely. Works flawlessly. I recommend it if you are in the market for a heat gun. ... show more

  • A "hot" little item!
Style: Heat Gun
Nutshell: this tool WORKS AS ADVERTISED, PERIOD! I did find that the "HIgh (2)" setting is best for processing heat shrink (yes, at the "expense" of battery life). I can't think of "profitable" uses for the "Low (1)" setting. With that typed, this tool is still VERY VALUABLE where you need "concentrated heat", but don't have AC power available for a corded heat gun. Note for "Jon S": yes, the "trigger lock" is designed for RIGHT-HANDED people. However, it ** CAN ** be used by "lefties" - activate and hold the trigger with the "tip" of the index finger, slide your left hand FORWARD so the "base knuckle" is over the lock button, then "squeeze" so the "knuckle" presses the "lock button". After that, re-adjust the hand so it "properly" holds the gun. Yes, it's not a "natural" action, but it works and, with practice, will become "second-nature" (at least, until/if DeWalt chooses to re-design the button for "ambidextrous" use ;) ). I ** DO INDEED ** recommend this tool for the "DeWalt 20V Universe" tool user... :) ... show more

  • Quite underwhelming
Style: Heat Gun
I purchased this as a replacement to my old harbor freight corded heat gun that recently went out. I have a 5AH DeWalt battery that works well but its slow to start up even on high. I have to let it run for about twenty to thirty seconds just to have it get to max heat. It works well for what i need but I fear that if i need to use it on more rigorous jobs it wont be able to hold up. ... show more
