  • knock off stars for an inexcusable manual!
Style: Touch Control
The “Manual Book” (like saying bao buns) is so unintelligible that this product may be too difficult to use unless you invest a lot of time experimenting. Sadly there are just too many horrible manuals with all these chinese knock off products. food and water can’t more than ⅘ of pot height, … must not exceed ¾ …. so which is it???? … the pressure in the clay pot …. … insulation lights… .. heat lamp chang liang …. What IS all this stuff? The drawing with the parts labelled doesn't have parts mentioned in text, like the clay pot! (I don't see anything made of clay, or porcelain) The pictures are VERY misleading. I see a half roast chicken and what looks like a rack of lamb. Sorry, but I DON’T think roasting is one of the 14 functions! As a steamer, it is pretty lame. The steaming rack is so high that you only can use ⅓ of the space for items to steam.. One big downside is the display (lack of) brightness. I wanted to use this in my outdoor kitchen, but most of the display isn’t visible in strong light. Some functions just don’t make sense or are flawed. The ‘fry’ for instance. Manual says default time is 10 minutes. Great! I can use it as a timer to reduce liquid. But, the timer NEVER starts because you need to close the lid apparently. But then, who fries food in a closed pan? Don’t you need to turn the food once in a while? There is no explanation of what half this stuff is. What is the ‘cake’ mode and how does it work? YOU figure it out. The manual is too busy showing the circuit design schematic and not useful information about how to use the thing. You may need to borrow your neighbors instantpot manual to help. The device works fine. I used fry and stew modes. My old one has 2 pressure settings, this looks like it only has one, but it worked fine at high altitude. Thankfully, there is a chart that tells you what is pressure, what is not, and what the default times are, but I don’t understand why some of the non-pressure modes need the lid on to countdown. ... show more

  • Not recommend
Style: Tableware
This pressure cooker is not as good as the other one I bought, and the pressure is not enough at all.

  • It is so versatile, you will wonder how you lived without it...
Style: Tableware
This is a different name for the trademarked product called an "instant pot". It's a programmable pressure cooker that you can use to cook any number of things quickly and easily. You can cook dried beans in 20-25 minutes. The pressure cooker allows you to make roasts and other meats nice and tender in a fraction of the time it would take to braise or slo-cook using a traditional method. It makes brown rice in 15 minutes (as opposed to an hour) and white rice quicker than a rice-cooker. This one has all kinds of settings and a cookbook/owner's manual that gives you the basics for making soups, stews, roasts, root vegetables (carrots/potatoes/etc.) fresh vegetables like green beans, etc. There's almost nothing you can't do with it. This model that has multiple extra settings over and above just a timer and heat setting. It's very simple to operate and the manual is quite detailed. I really think this is an excellent value for the price, and I know I will be using this for many years to come. I definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • My little kitchen helper
Style: Tableware
So many cooking options from making stews to yogurt. The dial for selecting the cooking modes rotates forward and back . I like the knob on the top it makes it easy to attach and reattach the lid. My favorite is making string beans. I can saute my bacon then deglaze the pan when I add the chicken stock. All the flavor stays in the pot which produces delicious strings beans in less than 30 minutes. There are some cons to this device . I dont like the buttons. The print size is very small and I need my reading glasses to read the top line even when its illuminated. Also the temperature gauge on the pressure cooker is in celsius instead of fahrenheit. Yes I could look up a conversion table but there are other models that would not require me to do so. When I'm in a rush which is typical when I use a pressure cooker. I want it to be as easy as possible. There are 20 different cooking selections and in my opinion some of them could have been combined. It would have made selecting an option quicker and less confusing. Overall it does perform well when cooking various dishes. ... show more

  • Not Very Efficient
Style: Touch Control
It cooks slower than other pressure cooker I owned before, the tough pad is very sensitive and you have to press really hard. Also, I always smell a light burning smell.

  • Original instruction manual is gibberish. Updated version is much better.
Style: Tableware
Update - I was sent a much better instruction manual that makes me actually want to pull this out and use it again. Not worded perfectly, but still explains the pressure cooker better than the original manual. I'm sure once I've used it more, I'll get the hang of it and will be completely happy. Original review - I've wanted a pressure cooker for a while now. This is a pretty nice one, but the instruction manual is horrible. As a first time pressure cooker owner, I found it hard to understand. I went online and looked up simple recipes to use with it (I was making chicken breasts) and the recipe I found actually explained how to use this thing better than the instruction manual did. I was also a bit confused about the steamer rack. It looks nothing like the rack they show in the manual. But I figured it out eventually and the chicken breasts came out juicy and tender. Took about 15 minutes to cook them. So while I give kudos to the pressure cooker itself, I had to take off stars for the incoherent instruction manual. I would not recommend this one for beginners at all. I haven't tried all the different functions yet. I'm still on that learning curve, but eventually I will try them all. Also, I'll be investing in an actual pressure cooker rack for this. They have a ton of different ones right here on Amazon that will fit it. ... show more
