  • Fresh Product!🤩 5 Stars for using these in a hydroponic system, not a spa.
The information that is important for everyone’s purposes is the expiration date for this product. There were other brands that I considered purchasing but I chose not to because the recent reviews had shown that people were being shipped an expired product. Not this one!🥰 As you can see by the photo of the box, it has an expiration date of May 25th, 2025. That gives me a year and a half to use these strips which is perfect for my needs. It is also something to consider when choosing the quantity of strips that you will purchase. Will you be able to use all the strips in the time before they expire? A last thing to add about this is that the expiration date is on the box. It is not also on the container which is typical nowadays. So, before you throw away the box, it might be a good idea to write the expiration days on the container itself. Now I will write about my hydronic system needs so this part of my review may or may not be applicable to your needs. I have been having challenges keeping my hydroponic system in balance so that roots will grow on my cuttings. I finally found a person online that said to use spa test strips to gauge the correct amount of Free Chlorine. So, based on good reviews for some tests, not all tests, I chose these Varify ones. Some reviewers that gave this brand 1 or 2 stars said that the readings on cyanuric acid and calcium hardness are not accurate. So, if that is what you are looking for in a water test, then it might be good to look at the most recent reviews because there is a possibility that this was an issue with just one batch. They may have remedied the test to be more accurate now. However, for my purposes, this test kit is working well in ways that I didn’t even realize were something that Needed to be fixed. I had no idea that water hardness was an issue in my water! Also, my acidity is off the charts low! So, I will be using additives to adjust those things. For now, the difference between the before and after is simply adding bleach. The Free Chlorine reading should be between 2ppm and 4ppm in a hydroponic system. I was shocked to look at the reading (see Before photo attached) of the test before I added more bleach (in a hydroponic system you can add chlorine or bleach as a sanitizer to increase the amount of Free Chlorine). I had absolutely no sanitizer in my system as you can see by the clear swatch next to Free Chlorine. No wonder I was having a challenge getting my cuttings to grow roots! I did the test actually 3 times and adjusted after each time. You can see my final test in the After Photo I attached). You can see that the Free Chlorine reading is now a touch high for a hydroponic system but close enough to work. The test was easy to do, easy to read, and I have hope now of being successful with my hydroponic system. What a relief! ... show more

  • Great product!
Great product easy to read, and accurate!! Value for the money, need only one strip to get reading.

  • Some readings are easy to read, some are not
The readings for Calcium Hardness, Total Chlorine, and Free Chlorine are fairly easy to read and are accurate compared to my drop-test kit. The readings for pH and Alkalinity are hard to read and lack the necessary granularity or color contrast to get an accurate reading. For example, the pH reading shows only a subtle shade of red/brown difference between about 7.0 and 7.6 (I like to keep my pH at 7.5). When you are in that range you really end up guessing. Same with the Alkalinity - I like my Alk at about 50, but that is on the lower end of the scale and the scale marks go from 40 to 80, again with a very subtle color change. You really have to guess where you are on that one too. These are good as a daily check, but I still recommend using a drop test kit once a week to get an accurate reading on your pool chemistry. ... show more

  • Finally, a strip that is easy to read AND shows cyanuric acid!
I was so frustrated with other brands of test strips, that I had pretty much abandoned them for anything but free chlorine, using tedious liquid test kits for pretty much everything else. So many of the other brands I have used are difficult to read, with inconsistent coloring, and most don't show total chlorine and cyanuric acid levels, which are important to anyone using peletized chlorine systems (eg. Frog brand). These strips are so good that I really only ever pull out the liquid test kit when I need to double check a parameter that appears to be drifting. And I'm really happy to finally have something that indicates cyanuric acid levels (constant problem with Frog and other pelletized chlorine systems), without having to drive a sample to the pool store! ... show more

  • Easy to use
Chlorine reading is easy. The strips seem high quality compared to others. Color matching is right on. I returned a competitors because of outdated but these are good. Price is good for the quality and quantity. Would buy again.

  • Excellent product
These strips work great for what I need to monitor.

  • Make sure you use common sense with this.
So when I ordered this product I got strips in the tube and a refill packet. The strips in the tube were accurate with the exception of the Cyanuric Acid. I started adding that on the low end since this was a new pool with new water. It consistently measured at 0 and never changed. I got to the point where I didn't want to add anymore and risk adding too much. The other day I opened up the refill packet and used one of the strips and it measured right where it needed to be at. So the tube strips weren't accurate with regards to the Cyanuric Acid in relation to the refill packet. I would just make sure that you are paying attention to what chemicals in what amount you're adding just in case they aren't accurate like mine were. ... show more
