Way better than the cheap versions. The lid on this one is easy to open and close quickly. The unit stays floating for plenty of time. If you are comparing this one with another one a few dollars less, I recommend going with this one. We previously purchased a different tablet floater for a few dollars less. It only lasted about 3 months before it sank to the bottom of the pool. The lid was also annoying because it was difficult to open and close and it was flimsy. This product works well. The thermometer is easy to read and is accurate to one degree when tested against a digital pool thermometer. The lid is easy to unscrew with three bowling-ball-like holes for grip. The white cap on the bottom is adjustable for some limited chlorine dispersal control. No complaints. Held up well for the first summer. Held 3 chlorine tablets. Helped stabilize the chemicals. Always stayed at the top of the pool!

    • Thermometer doesn’t work

I got this item to hold chlorine tablets AND read the water temperature. Unfortunately, the thermometer doesn’t work. We live in Virginia where temps have been hovering around 90-100 degrees. The thermometer doesn’t go above 34. Kinda bummed but at least we can use it for the chlorine tablets.
