  • Good looking, works well too!
Style: 6 Gal 3PHP Vac
Now I've got the best looking shop vacuum in the neighborhood, and I have a degree of flexibility which I never had before. One of the nice features of this shop vacuum is the variety of filters available. I bought (and reviewed) the HEPA filter for some indoor tile sawing which I needed to do, and I purchased a sawdust filter for working in my garage. My old shop vacuum would spew out great clouds of dust whenever I had to vacuum up something fine, like ashes. Not this one; slap in the HEPA filter and all is well. It can also be equipped with bags, something which I haven't tried out yet. My last shop vacuum sounded like a 747 at takeoff. The Vacmaster, while not exactly soothing, is a lot less likely to wake the dead. Suction is fine as well, once again trouncing my old unit. Some reviewers had issues with the cord length. I thought the cord was about right. For quick jobs in a smallish area, the cord is plenty long for me to just find an outlet and plug it in. For larger problems I break out my impressive collection of extension cords. The hose is OK, but a bit stiff feeling to me. I wish the hose was a little larger in diameter as well. So far the Vacmaster does not have a tendency to tip over. One final consideration for me was the electrical current draw on this unit. It's tempting to go out and buy the biggest, most powerful shop vacuum on the planet, but there is a significant drawback to that approach as well. One of the many needs the Vacumaster will fill is that it will be hooked up to the dust port which can be found on many of my power tools. Our garage is also a workshop, storage room, and laundry center. For reasons which escape me, my wife doesn't like her clean clothes covered with saw dust. A large, industrial shop vacuum cleaner may have more suction, but I have limited power available in my garage. If I try to run a 6 HP shop vacuum, overhead lights, and my table saw, I will soon be making the long trek over to the circuit breakers, located outside (bad idea) and at the opposite extreme of the house. So I was looking for a shop vacuum which was easy on the power consumption. For the money, I thought this turned out to be a very good purchase, and as an added bonus, it looks good in my garage / storage room / work shop / laundry room. ... show more

  • It's Perfect!
Style: 6 Gal 3PHP Vac
What a great looking vacuum. I haven't tested it out fully, but I thoroughly inspected everything upon assembly and dry vac testing, and everything is perfect (no dents, or missing parts, or anything). I bought this because I needed a vacuum for my apartment, and also because the basement gets water coming up during heavy rainstorms, and I thought a wet vac could help a ton. I haven't yet tested the wet vac, that I have to wait for rain before I can. But I have absolutely no complaints. My little R2D2 has great suction power, all the accessories I need, it's just perfect and I don't regret not buying a slightly more powerful one that doesn't look as handsome as this one. Edit: It rained! And I just had to add a bit to my review because I got to test this baby out in a wet vac situation. And holy cow, did it perform admirably. For the wet vac use alone, this product met and exceeded all expectations! I put it to the test as best I could, sucking up gallons and gallons of water that kept coming in to my basement, and boy does this thing make cleaning floods SO much easier than ever before. It is FAST, much faster than I expected. It handles liquids just as well as it handles solid debris (and both simultaneously). After all was said and done, my floor is dry & clean, and my vac took it like a champ. Filter just needed to be brushed off and dried (I'll clean it if it gets real dirty, but it looks almost new still). Cleaning and drying the inside tank of the vac was simple and quick too, I just wiped it down with a rag and it's as clean as when I first opened the box. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this vacuum for just about any application. And if I ever need to buy a replacement, I'm sure I'll buy another one of these. ... show more

  • This vacuum takes use and abuse and still works amazing.
Style: 6 Gal 3PHP Vac
It's funny, I was ordering vacuum bags and a new filter for my Vacmaster this afternoon, and just wanted to take a moment to share how I feel about this product. I have had this vacuum for two years as of tomorrow 02/09/16. I use it just about everyday. Sometimes multiple times a day. This vacuum has been a godsend since I've had it. It's powerful and I have only noticed it losing suction when the bag inside is so full that the dirt (specifically, dirt, dog hair, wood ash, straw, sticks, bits of tree bark, mud, gravel or whatever else gets tracked into the house) starts plugging up where the bag and hose attach to the vacuum. That would be almost to the point that the bag is ready to bust. So when I notice that the vacuum is losing suction, that's my final indication that if I don't change the bag there is going to be a revolt. Now for the bags. They hold a lot, and I mean A LOT! We have a farm, and unfortunately the farm house sits almost at the lowest part of the property (My father-in-law goofed on that one. He built the place back in the early 70's. So go figure. It was a hazy decade. Anyone who lived through the 70's knows what I'm talking about.) So with that said, we get a lot of dirt and stuff tracked into the house by the four of us, the 3 dogs, the pig (eh-hem, the house pig), and occasionally a chicken will sneak in (those chickens play dumb and put on a great poker face, but they pick up on things quickly.) We also heat with a wood stove so there's wood ash to contend with, and our farm is surrounded by other farms and open fields that grow commercially. So there is a tremendous amount of dust that is generated from us and the other farms. It's challenging to keep a clean house here, and I have gone through a lot of vacuums over the years. I once had a very expensive Dyson, which was an awesome vacuum until I moved out of a well manicured sub-division to the backside of hell's half acre. That was 10 years ago, and the Dyson gave up the ghost about a year later. Then I had about 3 other run-of-the-mill cheap vacuums, which didn't last at all, and finally an Electrolux that cost a small fortune. It was great for a while, but this place was too much for it. It sits in a corner now in the utility room and isn't good for much except holding up the wall. So two years ago, I bought the Vacmaster as a last ditch effort and it has saved my sanity. I couldn't recommend this vacuum more. It really gets put through the paces here. It's used, definitely abused and (knock on wood) I haven't had one day of trouble out of it. I sweep, vacuum and dust mop the floors constantly. If it wasn't for this vacuum, I would never even begin to keep up with things around here. Rest assured, this vacuum in my honest and humble opinion is worth its weight in dirt and gold. ... show more
