I bought this when a friend requested an engraving project and I couldn’t find my old engraving pen. I was finding it very difficult to engrave on the jar I was making - it took a while just to get a scratch on the surface and then was very tedious trying to turn that into a bigger line. It also was blackening the area I was engraving and was hard to clean off. At first I assumed the jar was just challenging to engrave on but then I found my old engraving pen and decided to try it in the project. My old one worked immediately and had no trouble engraving the same surface quickly. So overall, this pen did work okay but I would not recommend it. ... show more

    • Works Well for Removing Solder Mask
I have only used this to remove solder mask and oxidation from circuit boards, but it works great for those tasks. It is easy to engage the overload protection, so I dont imagine its good for hard materials, but it seems quite enough for cleanup and scratching off surface finishes. It is quiet, and a nice size and shape. It's a bit smaller than I expected, but it fits well in the hand. The included bit selection has many options. I've only used the finest tip bit, but it spins straight, without any wobble or slipping. So far it's a winner for my specific need. ... show more
