  • Exactly what I needed for my M1 Mac mini
Model: MC25 Pro
So I love my M1 Mac Mini but I had two external disks (since I had them on hand) that I used for local additional storage (I take a lot of photos and didn't want to clog my Mac Mini's SSD) and one that I used for Time Machine backups. And, as we all know, the lack of ports and SD card reader can sometimes be a problem. But the biggest issue, is that my Mac sat next to me and the whole thing just looked messy. A slew of cables to the external drives, 2 black external drives and it was bugging me. Enter this device. I didn't get it free. This isn't a paid review... I paid for this hub. Here's what I love about it. It is ever so slightly larger than the Mac by maybe a few millimeters, if that, so my Mac sits perfectly on top. The color isn't a 100% match, as others have noted, but it is probably 98% and if your Mac is sitting on top, who cares, right? You can see how close they are in the picture. It has eliminated my clutter issue. Both external drives are gone. Inside, I installed a 1TB NVMe drive that I use for my fast local storage and a 2 TB Seagate 2.5 drive for Time Machine. Now I have a nice clean desktop! No more clutter. Just the Mac and this device. In one unit, I have two separate drives, so if my fast local storage failed, my Time Machine didn't. (And yes, like anyone, aside from iCloud I do make additional periodic backups to an external Time Machine disk.) Anyway, it will do wonders to clean up your desktop. And in front you get 2 USB 3.0 A type ports, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 A type port, a USB C port, SD/TF ports and indicator lights showing that the hub is active, the NVMe is being accessed and the HDD is being accessed. For my uses, and what I wanted to accomplish, it has worked flawlessly. No errors. Drives all accessed easily and quickly. All front ports working. AN IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are using both drives like I am, it is important that you connect both USB-C ports on the hub to your Mac Mini using either the included cables or your own. The power draw between the hub, and powering a rotating HDD plus an NVMe can cause intermittent issues if you don't connect both. One for power, one for data. It is described in the instruction manual and if you just do it, you will have a trouble-free experience with this device. I tried it without the second USB-C to USB-A connected and the NVMe acted like it "ejected" improperly from time to time. By connecting both cables, it is flawless and all ports in front are powered. A TIP: I stuck a piece of double-stick Velcro between my Mac and the Hub so that when my Mac was on top, it did not slide if I was plugging something into the hub. This is no fault of the hub. The Mac's "foot" as you know is the circular plastic bottom which can slide on top of the smooth aluminum of the hub. A little Velcro did the trick. A BONUS: Hagibis paid attention to detail. The LEDs they used are the same size, intensity and brightness of the one on the Mac Mini. As a result, the white LED that represents the HDD being accessed in the hub lines up with the white LED on your Mac. The blue and green LED are the same size. Nice attention to detail. SURPRISING: There is a plastic "door" on the bottom of the hub that you remove to insert the HDD or NVMe drives. They supply screws to secure it and foam to keep you drive tightly in place. I was pleasantly surprised that they included extra screws, several rubber NVMe holders and a screw driver! You don't have to try and find a mini screw driver to install the screws as they supply one. Overall, for me, for how I use my Mac, this is EXACTLY what I needed. It has exceeded my expectations for the price. I have had no issues with reliability, read/write speeds or connectivity. ... show more

  • Awesome hub. Dual drive enclosures super helpful.
Model: MC25PRO HD
Looked around for the perfect USB Hub. No Such Thing. So started looking for the hub with as many useful (for me) options as possible. I came up on four different Hagbis hubs, from basic to the hub with two ssd slot/enclosures built in. One a 2.5" SATA, the other blade NVME type. I was planning on using this with a Apple Max Mini M1 with a pathetic, non-replacable 256gb internal SSD, (c'mon Apple, really?). So I installed a 1tb nvme for starr-up and system stuff. And a 2tb SATA for back-up (and Time Machine). Works quite nicely. Ports: On Back: two USB-C ports, a full size Display Port and and HDMI port. On Front: Three USB 3, USB-C and a micro and Full size SD card reader. Not ideal but, for me, pretty close. Feels like aluminum so It matches the color, texture and size of the Mini, so you can put it on or under your Mini. And it looks like it belongs there. The bottom is black plastic (with a screw on/off cover for the drives. Super easy to access and install or remove drive(s). Thermal pad came with hub), with four rubberish feet. Been using it for a few months now and my biggest issue is the drives will unmount occasionally, not often, but once is too much. Working on figuring that issue out (suggestions welcome). For me this is as close to perfect as I will probably find, and it works great, with two bays for drives and additional ports. There are others similarly priced that so not have the dual drive bays. Otherqise this works the same as others Satichi, etc. This is an excellent device for the price. Nice balance of useful ports/drive bays and price. Not so nice, but for me not an issue. No Ethernet or audio jack. But both on Mac Mini (though audio jack is around back, so that is more of a bummer. But with Bluetooth earphones again not a big issue). Bonus (sort of): when you add the two USB-C ports (at least one taken up for power/data signal to the hub), a two USB-3 ports and a HDMI, you have a pretty nice bunch of available ports and jacks. ... show more

  • Works well, but…
Model: MC25 Pro DP
I purchased this dock to complement my new 2022 Mac mini M2Pro. The point of it was to stack it on top of the mini, since it is of identical proportions, and supply the monitor with the HDMI port on its rear. Since the two USB-C cables supplied with this item are too short to reach the Mac mini, I used a couple of my own I had on hand. I was not able to get video out of the unit. I returned it and tried another to no avail. After switching to one with both display port and HDMI, I still had no luck and thought I would simply have to connect the monitor directly to the mini. I decided to separate them and try the supplied cables. Connected this way, I was able to get video out of it. Obviously, that is not the way this product is intended to be used, side-by-side with the computer. I then ordered a couple of thunderbolt 3 certified cables and that resulted in the unit working as intended. Hagibis should provide the proper cables in a length that reaches around to the mini’s USB-C ports. The ones I purchased are the bare minimum at a half-meter long. When I first encountered the problem I reached out to the company’s customer service via email. No response. A couple of weeks later and other email resulted in the same crickets. They still get four stars from me for the performance of the unit prior to and after getting the video to work. The onboard SSD & M.2 ports work flawlessly with zero drop outs, provided both of the unit’s USB-C ports are connected. This is clearly spelled out in the documentation. You must use both USB-C (a) and (b). The unit is now operating as expected with fast I/O from the storage drives, and video to my monitor in 4K. ... show more
