Nice design and layout and seems like a quality build. Has all the ports I needed. I use it with my MacBook Air M1 and connect 2 USB external drives, a USB Headset, Web camera and an external HDMI Monitor + SD cards as needed and connect my Mac Power Supply to the USB C Power Port. All worked extremely well....until it didn't! One day, 7 1/2 months later (and out of warranty) it failed. The power passthrough woks but now none of the ports do, so cannot use it. Big shame, because otherwise it seemed to be a great unit. Does get a little warm, but not excessively so - I guess the electronics inside just gave up - otherwise I would have given this 5 stars. UPDATE: I am updating this review to 5 stars because it appears I may have had a defective unit and MOKIN customer support immediately stepped up, and even though my unit was out of warranty they refunded the full cost of the Unit.     • 2023 Units Ethernet Port worked 2024 Units Ethernet Port do not work
I purchased three of the Mokin (Mod # MOUC0501) last year and all work extremely well. Recently (within the last two weeks) purchased and returned two units because the Ethernet Port does not work, which is extremely frustrating.

Product worked like a charm for exactly one year (HDMI, Ethernet, USB and USB-C all used) with my MacBook. Ran warm so I kept it over a dedicated cooling fan. Unfortunately one morning it stopped working; contacted customer service and after a couple very speedy inquiries into what happened, they mailed me a replacement. 5-stars for that alone. ... show more

    • Budget USB C Hub with a budget feel.
Wanting a cheap hub for travel I bought this when I saw it on sale. Overall you get what you pay for in the end. While description says it is aluminum it definitely has the feel of plastic. The permantly attached cable is a bit stiff and doesn't have much give. The cable tends to want to stay straight instead of being able to place the hub behind my laptop where I prefer them. Overall performance seems to be fine. Only issues I've had is when plugging in an additional usb stick storage or memory card the others that are already connected will sometimes disconnect briefly so if you have a transfer going on it will fail. LAN works, charging works, ports all work with the above exception. As I don't carry a second display with me on the road I have not tested that part extensively but have hooked up a small 7 inch HDMI display and that worked fine. Overall the hub works as intended and does it's job. Only difference I've noticed btw this one and a major name brand is price and feel of the materials used in construction. ... show more

this unit does everything I need it do do when connected to my MacBook. The TF port failed in a way that the memory card went all the way inside the hub. It can be heard rattling around when the hub is shaken. Mokin customer service sent a replacement and I received it the following day. Fantastic….. ... show more

I've had this out of the box for all of 30 minutes and I'm already going return it. 2021 MacBook Pro 16" used . I noticed that running speed tests through the usb C data port the speeds are absolutely neutered! Read and Write through a dedicated usbC port on the PC renders near 900Mbps. Through the usbC data port on the hub that is rated for 5Gbps, I'm only able to churn out just under 400Mbps. The PC doesn't recognize the pass through charging right away. Takes about 30 full seconds for it to realize it's getting power worth using to charge. My old UNI usb hub does this right away. I decided to try using this hub as I would any normal way before utilizing it on a mission critical project. Right away it showed me why it's getting more and more terrible reviews. While trying to import photos with the SD card reader to an external drive all plugged into the hub, it was constantly showing that I was unplugging it. I would hear the beep from the PC telling me that something was unplugged. Sure enough, I could see the charging icon disappear, then reappear. I tried this multiple times with the same result. I'm not even going to try any of the other ports (HDMI/LAN) as I fear I'll run into the same issues that everyone else has with these random disconnects.     • Great adapter that does everything I need for my 2021 Macbook Pro.
Worked perfectly from the first time I plugged it in. I use it for wired network connection, usb flash drives, usb mouse, as well as an external monitor. very lightweight material. I have never had an issue with any accessories not working with it. The only issue I can see with it is the fact that when I am using it as a network adapter and usb hub for a mouse it can heat up over time. at times it gets fairly hot which MAY shorten the lifespan of the product but this is only my speculation as I have not had any issues since I purchased it months ago and I use it almost everyday, ofter for hours and hours at a time. ... show more

Update 03-FEB-2023 - The store has contacted me after my previous review, apologized for the inconvenience and filed a full refund for these products. Although they are not functioning as I expected, they contacted me and took care of the issue. This talks good about the seller. Mean they are attentive to reviews and comments and take care of the after sell. Thank you. I purchased this item to replace a QGeeM that has no RJ45 port. So, here is what happened. The HDMI works, yes, but cannot go above 1080p resolution (while with the QGeeM I get 1440p), and the second problem, the ethernet speed. I actually bought 2 units for two laptops, on both, the ethernet does not goes above 200Mbps, while when using Wifi I get 500 Mbps and using my network port directly I get 900 Mbps (near to the 1Gpbs I have contracted). The same happen on both units, meaning, there is a bandwidth limit, meaning this is bad advertising, this doesn't work as advertised. I cannot return this because I got this forwarded to Panama where I live, returning them will cost 3 times what I paid for it. So, if you need higher speed and higher resolution, don't buy this thing. I stopped using immediately as it also overheats. I think it is unfair you guys say the product will do something and it DOES NOT. NOT RECOMMENDED! ... show more
