I have a 20 lb Frenchton, 125 lb Black Lab/Treeing Walker Coonhound mix & 110 lb Great Pyrenees. They were all able to figure this dish out within a matter of minutes. We've had no spills & no dripping all over the floors from one room to the other while our lab mix carries a mouthful of water that he decides not to drink when he gets to the next room & proceeds to let it drop out of his mouth. I also love that I can take the floating piece out when the need arises. My Frenchton puppy was recently spayed & was unable to use the dish while she's wearing the cone of shame. I just took the floating piece out & they can use it as a regular water dish until she no longer needs the cone. My Great Pyrenees always drank large amounts of water way too fast & then throw it all up with a regular water dish. He no longer does that with this dish! It absolutely slows down his drinking & reduces the amount he's drinking at any given time. That in itself makes this dish a win-win!! I did remove the 2 gray silicone pieces on the sides of the dish. (See photo for the pieces I'm referring to) I'm assuming they're to hold the floating piece in place?? Or to keep smart dogs from removing it?? However, it's easier for me to use it & refill it throughout the day without those 2 pieces. Plus with a puppy who loves to chew everything she can sink her teeth into they're a choking hazzard in my household. It works just fine without them for us & makes it easier to fill & put back together. Cleaning the dish is a breeze. I wash it twice a day when I wash their food dishes. The floating piece comes apart easily. I stick a butter knife in between the 2 pieces & it pops right apart. I did notice that when I took it apart & cleaned it twice a week as the directions recommended it had a very musty smell after 3 days. Maybe that's for when you only have one dog drinking from the dish?? Regardless, I clean it twice a day now & it's never had a musty smell since then. You might want to keep that in mind if you have multiple dogs. I do wish they made this in a bigger size for large/giant breeds & multiple dog households. I'm going to order another one so I have 2 in use at a time. It would be so much nicer to have one larger dish though. Just a thought!! I highly recommend this dish if you have guzzlers or drippers. This water bowl is great, there's a lot less dripping all over and if there's a habit of bumping it this is great for you. Now if you have a dog that has a habit of picking up their bowl, it's not going to help because the lip makes it easier for them to pick it up. Also if you walk by and just so happen to catch the lip of the bowl, grab a mop because it will flip and whatever water was in the bowl is now all over your floor. I like it but would love if I could figure a way to suction it to the floor. Don't get me wrong it is definitely good quality and can hold up to some abuse, if it just didn't have the lip it would be perfect. ... show more

Not exactly no spill but does the job. If the side of the bowl were higher it may be more effective at keeping the splashes inside the bowl and if your dog is a dribbler you will still get some water everywhere just not as much as with an open bowl. Now if you have a water digger this bowl may be helpful since the tray limits the amount of water that floats on the top. The bowl itself stays in place due to the rubber pads at the bottom but it should be placed in an area with little traffic to prevent anyone from bumping into the bowl. The floating tray is easy to open and clean but I find that if it were one piece it would be one less part to clean. I wished I purchased a bigger one because 2L disappears quick in this house. I like that the bottom is clear so I can see from afar if the bowl needs a refill or cleaning. ... show more

This is an absolute game changer! My schnauzer's beard always gets wet when he drinks water. My solutions have been to clean up the water on the floor after him, place towels on the floor around his bowl, carry a towel to dry his face, or just avoid him for a bit after he drinks (which he never likes). I'm glad I finally picked this up. Disregard any negative reviews. Everyone's experience is going to be different, which is why I waited to purchase one myself. OMG! The ability to not have to worry about his fur sitting wet is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I would give this 10 stars! If anything ever happens to it, I will just purchase another. Love it! We have 2 dogs, one large, one small. The big one tends to stick his nose down in the water and then drinks the bowl dry, and drips and spills. Then the small one doesn't have water in the bowl when she wants some. This water bowl has remedied both issues. The only reason I rate this as 4 and not 5, is because it's still a lot smaller than we need with two dogs (I bought two bowls and I still need another). I looked for a bigger option and would love to purchase a larger option, if it becomes available, because these bowls are amazing!! We have a 5 month old pup who didn't drink messy at all, then we got him a 9 month old German Shepherd playmate and there were trails of water ALL OVER the tile in the house. It wasn't just inconvenient because of the mess, but it was a major risk of someone falling.
