I am 75 years old and was able to assemble this easily. I did not have to use bag to add weight to it for use. It worked and was heavy enough for what I needed. I had dry packed down areas I used it on before seeding. It’s very heavy duty and well made.

Just what my yard needed. putting all the spikes in place took a while but once installed and the sand bag filled you are ready to go. I have rolled it over my yard three times now and all the bare spots are dispersing.

    • Take your time assembling the drum and remember, the spikes are sharp!!
Works good for a smallish aerator, but with the added weight of a heavy sand (paver sand) I think that a "T" handle would be a better option. After a short while (15 - 20 minutes) your hand gets pretty tired and the handle kinda digs into your palm.

Definitely need some elbow grease to use but if you willing it does the job. I also filled the center tube with stone to add more weight to it which definitely helped without having to use too much force pressing down just push forward

You may want to add weight but I recommend dumbbells you will find the hollow area many will try sand no no no use dumbbells x2 and you will be extra happy as this tool was designed to add weight for different applications.

Really wanted to like this thing, but it was just too flimsy with a "T" handle and weight in the drum. The aerator is impossible to track in a straight line for more than a couple feet and then it just starts arcing and then you are just doing circles. Tried pulling it and then it tracks fine, but the tines barely would go ¼” into the soil. ... show more

Times are too far apart and until does not pierce the ground due to angle and weight. Added about 18lbs to it and still does not aerate enough. Threw it away.
