I thought i would be able to have Google maps without my phone. It has a GPS antenna which really means nothing. Overall this is a good product. Everything works like it should.

    • AirPlay works great, but the sound quality is awful
I’ve had an Echo Auto (and countless other Bluetooth adapters) connected to my car stereo’s aux input over the past few years. I’ve been wanting to add CarPlay but my head unit doesn’t support it, so I was happy to find a portable receiver that didn’t cost more than a new stereo. The quality of the display is on par with the 7-inch Kindle Fire and very satisfactory. I had my iPhone 12 Pro Max connected within seconds, and found that it reconnected automatically without fail each time I cycled the power. The included accessories were more than I would’ve expected at the price point. The construction of the two included mount were sturdy, both aux and charger cables were extra long, a micro SD card was pre-installed, and a backup camera rounded out the ensemble (I didn’t use it as my car has a backup camera). The video captured by the integrated dash cam was clear enough for my liking, HD-quality. I’ve not used a dash cam prior to this, so I’ve nothing to compare it with. The biggest disappointment for me, in fact the only disappointment, was the sound quality of the audio input. Whether I used the aux output or the built in FM transmitter, the stereo image was extremely narrow and had an extremely muddy midrange. If you’ve ever heard speakers that were wired “out of phase,” you’ll know what I’m talking about. (Update: After connecting headphones to the aux, I can confirm the output on my unit is in mono.) Since I listen to music almost constantly, the sound quality is more important to me than the CarPlay functionality. I have no doubt that the sound quality would fine for listening to podcasts or audiobooks, but listening to music just became too fatiguing after half an hour. ... show more

Worked for a couple months, now just a dashmounted paperweight. Will boot up, but as soon as you try to do anything at all it just freezes. Will have to look for another alternative.
