I had some issues with getting repeat runout measurements until I noticed that on about half of them the “iCarbide” logo on the is rough and raised. The other half is a smooth. Seems true to the title. I've only checked a few but I'm getting low runout with these collets. Made the mistake of getting the cheapest collets originally and found out a few of them had lots of runout.

I have only measured the runout on the 1/8th collet with a 1/8" ground hardened ejector pin so far but it was well within spec to the best of my ability to measure at approximately 0.0008" at .125" from the collet and 0.0010" at 1" from the collet, accounting for the known runout on my ER16 taper and ball bearing ER16 nut. You could spend a lot more money to get the same or less accuracy. ... show more

The package says 0.003” and they are no better than that when measured. The description mentions 0.0002”. Even though knew that would be unlikely at that price.

    • Wondering why most common sizes have 2x runout.

I’ll need to use each of them to know the real runout accuracy, but I’m wondering why the 1/8”, 1/4”, and 3/8” came labeled as 2x the advertised runout. The set was supposed to be 0.0002” max runout. Each were labeled as such, except the 3 most common sizes. Just disappointed in the false advertising. The rest of the set had the correctly advertised runout. ... show more
