    • Good lift at a good price
I just bought this in anticipation of getting a larger and more powerful router motor for my table. The problem was that I was not yet ready to upgrade the motor and wanted something with which I could continue to use my Porter-Cable 890 series until I made a decision as to what to replace it with. Other lifts in this price range could do this for me with the additional purchase of adapter blocks or rings. This unit accepts a wide range of sizes without the need to buy anything extra. I can use it with my present motor and when I upgrade, I can remove the lift, remove four screw pins, move the clamp blocks to different settings and I will be good to go in about ten minutes. The quality of the build is what I would expect from Kreg. Very smooth and solid. The only quibble I have is the plastic wrench provided for changing inserts seems a bit flimsy. One other thing to note is that there is no provision for leveling the lift plate from the top. It is designed to be use with Kreg plate levelers which are installed on the bottom of the table in the corners of the cutout. Not a deal killer, as they are less than twenty bucks and install very easily. The downside to this system is that one has to remove/replace the lift multiple times to adjust the set screws to get the plate exactly flush with the table OR you can leave the lift in the table and work upside down under the table and throw your neck out doing it.     • Great purchase, quality construction
I ordered this as an amazon return and when received it was missing one of the inserts. This unit is supposed to have three and there was only two in the box. After speaking to a friend who works for Amazon the reason became clear, when Amazon receives returned products the person reviewing simply refers to the Amazon pictures to confirm all parts are received, since the pics only show 2 they assumed it was complete, not the case. I contacted Amazon CS and was informed they could not supply the individual part, but would certainly issue a full refund and return authorization. I contacted Kreg directly and explaining the problem and was very pleasantly surprised when they resounded to my email stating they would ship out the missing item immediately at no charge, that is great customer service. I was already a big fan of Kreg products having several in my shop but I am now a customer for life. Thank you Kreg. To review the actual product, I purchased this to use with a Ridgid R22002 router, the fit was not noted in the guide but worked without issue on the #6 holiest. The installation is quite simply using a pattern bit to rout the releif in your router table, the lift is extremely accurate and the lock feature works great holding the bit height firm while routing. I selected this unit over the Jessem due to the aluminum plate over the phenolic Jessem. I have since purchased the larger insert ring set and can confirm the insert rings lock in securely and are flush with the plate. ... show more

This lift is solid and well built. It accepts a wide variety of router diameters. It was super easy to configure the right diameter and insert the router. Just remember to locate the router speed control and on/off switch in the front or you'll be taking it out and repositioning it like I did. The lift opperates smooth and sure beats hand cranking from below. Why did I think that was a good idea. ... show more

    • Great addition to a Kreg router table
I've had mine for several months, use it 3-4 times per week. I wish I'd sprung for this tool years ago. It saves a great deal of time and frustration changing bits and adjusting depth (height) of cut. I have the recommended Hitachi router (KM12VCR) and the motor fits exactly in the holder with the adjustments clearly specified in the instructions. I previously used a 3.5 HP plunge router in the table, which randomly would shift and raise or lower during mid-cut. This setup, without the plunge feature, eliminates that problem. The instructions clearly tell you to raise the router lift all the way to the top before fastening the motor, which I didn't do. I quickly found out that you need to do this in order to get the bottom wrench onto the routers' collet. Recommended tool, works well. ... show more

    • A total game changer
Bit changes above the table are way easier. And the depth adjustment is not only much easier from above the table, it's far more accurate. Installing the router into the lift mechanism is very simple: set the brackets to match the router model and it clamps right in. And it was a straight swap with the Kreg insert plate I already had, requiring minimum adjustments to level it out. Probably the best tool investment I've made in years. ... show more

    • Great lift with one annoyance.
This is a great lift at a great price. It was easy to install and fit my Dewalt 618 perfectly. The one thing I didn't like about it is the fact that it has no leveling screws. So you have to buy the Kreg leveling pads. I don't like those either as you need to level your plate from underneath while keeping an eye on it. So I drilled and tapped 8 holes, 2 at each corner near the mounting holes and used some set screws. Now I can level from the top. I did have one small issue with the adjustment crank that it used to raise and lower the lift as well as lock it down. It wouldn't fit into the locking wheel. So a couple of passes with a file on each flat surface and all is good. I have an old set of Woodpeckers aluminum insert rings, which they don't make any more. So I wanted to know if they would work. Before purchasing this router lift I asked Kreg, here is the exchange: Q:Will Woodpeckers aluminum insert rings fit? A: The Kreg PRS5000 is designed to only accept the Kreg Level-Loc Reducing Rings. Kreg Technical Support Manufacturer · 3 weeks ago I was bummed that I wouldn't be able to use them as they are a great set of rings, but when it arrived I checked and the Woodpeckers aluminum rings fit perfectly.
