The sound quality is good, not too many EQ settings but enough to find a preferred sound. The sub does not disappoint; it fills up my small bedroom perfectly. HDMI ARC is a plus. Would recommend. Would I use it as a living room sound system? No, but for smaller bedrooms it is perfect.

The first unit I received has a problem with the subwoofer RCA connection, despite some attractive and well-insulated packaging. So, I guess the connector on the end of the wire for the sub was damaged seemingly while packing the unit up at the factory. I was able to get some pliers and get it to seat, but it was a bit wobbly. But, Amazon swapped it out for us no problem and the next one was perfect! Next, we hooked it up to our TV's optical out. So getting sound to come out was pretty smooth. Game mode sound is pretty consistent/even, and we preferred that for moving watching over Movie mode (see cons). The subwoofer is pretty banging, and the sound can be cranked pretty high on this without distortion. But, it feels pretty directional. Cons -Movie mode was pretty bad... the volume fluctuates A LOT. I think maybe it's trying to be smart about voices or something, but it was doing a horrible job. Gaming mode is better and we prefer that. -The sound is really directional compared to our 5.1 system. -The power on/off is going to make me crazy. Instead of a simple press each way, you have to hold the power button for several seconds to get it to turn off. Older guests/parents aren't going to be able to deal with it on their own. Packaging: Very nice box with protective foam sections inside. Bank for Buck: $100 for a 2.1 sound bar isn't too shabby. You could probably spend less, but I also think you could spend more. TL;DR: You could do a lot worse for $100. But the lack of actual surround feel, the horrid movie mode, and the infuriating need to hold the power button for several seconds to turn it off caused me to dock it a couple of stars. UPDATE: The company sent me a software update so that the on/off behavior isn't so frustrating. Their updates for movie mode don't stop the voices from starting out quiet and then kicking the volume up but only after a noticeable delay. Their suggestion is to use Game mode for movies with the bass set to +1. That definitely removes the annoying voice quiet/loud behavior. But it's still not quite as much a surround sound feel as I was hoping. In any case, I think now it's more of a 4 star product than 3 so I added a star back. ... show more

i received this in the mail today and i am so impressed. i have a TCL roku tv with a 4k apple tv connected through via hdmi cable. i was not looking forward to messing with my current set up, sound preferences, remote syncing, etc so i just plugged the soundbar into the hdmi arc port on my tv and left the apple tv connected to the tv as it was. as soon as i plugged in the soundbar the sound switched over immediately! i did not expect it to be so seamless (im obviously not the most technologically savvy). the sound quality is really good too (to me at least). my apple tv remote controls the soundbar with no changes to my settings necessary. i am super impressed with the sound but mostly the easy set up! def recommend ... show more

Extremely satisfied with this product. Great sound from a small pkg. I have it outside in my man cave and we tend to get rather loud, especially when LSU is playing, we have NO issues with hearing it. Highly recommend.

The old saying is you get what you paid for. I bought both the S50 ($90) (atmos version) and the S40 ($56) because it had an attractive double discount offer. They both sound terrible. I believe the other positive reviews are fake. It literally sounds like non-stereo AM radios. The subwoofer is a joke, it sounds hollow. They advertise "deep bass". That is false advertising. And it feels like a toy. The remote control buttons have delays when pressing and it takes multiple times pressing it to transmit. I have never ever in my life unboxed, hooked it up, disconnected it, and stuck something back in the box so quick for a return. Honest truth! I have a JBL Flip 5 bluetooth speaker that has better highs, deeper lows, clear, crisp, and no distortion at high volume compared to this cheaply made toy. Do yourself a favor, go get a JBL Flip 5 for $72 because the sound quality and bass is 20 times better than this "hometheater soundbar". I'm really ashamed of myself that I got lured with the great photos and description and sale. Live and learn ... show more

Nothing to dislike. I wasn't expecting IMAX theater sound at this price point. The improved sound is sufficient for my needs. My old Dolby surround bar (circa 1990) died and this is my replacement. I did have to get converters for the RCA connections but they worked fine once I was able to figure it all out. I don't mind not having everything go through ARC. I have my 5CD player set up through digital so I can listen to my music while still seeing the TV picture (it is muted) so I can know what's going on in the world. I'm a 79 year old cable news junkie (NOT FOX). I am 100% satisfied with my purchase. Their customer support is A+. ... show more

This item performs very well for the price point it's in, it's very compact and will fit almost anywhere you want to use it. In my opinion it's not meant for a large room but performs very well in a bedroom or office setting, the dialog is very clear and it's a major upgrade compared to TV speakers.
