๐Ÿš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Samsung Soundbar has generally received positive reviews for its sound quality, easy setup and wireless connectivity. It offers a considerable improvement over built-in TV speakers and provides an enhanced movie watching and music playing experience. The soundbar auto pairs with the TV and the included subwoofer enhances the bass effect. However, it has been pointed out that the sound experience, especially for vocals, may not meet everyone's expectations and there have been instances of the sound fading in Bluetooth mode.

Pros

  • ๐ŸŽต High-quality sound & easy setup
  • ๐Ÿ”Š Substantial improvement over built-in TV speakers
  • ๐Ÿ”— Good Wireless Connectivity
  • ๐Ÿ”„ Auto pairs with TV when turned on
  • ๐ŸŽš๏ธ Wireless subwoofer adds considerable bass

Cons

  • ๐Ÿ˜– The vocals may not come out as expected
  • ๐Ÿ’ฌ Instances of the sound fading in Bluetooth mode
  • ๐Ÿšซ Absence of USB or Optical connectivity in some models
  • ๐Ÿ”ฆ Occasional technical issues leading to sound output stoppage

Should I Buy It?

If sound quality, ease of use, and wireless connectivity are your priorities, then you should consider buying this product. Some technical inconsistencies are mentioned but they seem to be the exception rather than the norm. You might want to bear in mind that perhaps the voice quality might not meet your exact expectations and you might have to use a separate remote to control the volume.

  • Really happy with this purchase
Model: HW-A550/ZA Style: Soundbar Only
This was my move from the built-in tv speakers to something external. HOLY COW. What a difference. I used to have to turn the tv speakers up to about 60 to hear quiet movie scenes, especially if the kids were playing in the background. The tv speakers seemed to not get any louder once you hit about 30. This soundbar is GREAT. The first movie I watched after I got it was Mad Max. The sound experience was incredible compared to what I had before. I used the included digital audio wire to connected directly to the TV (Sony LED tv from 2011) and there was no lag between the screen and the audio. The speaker turns on automatically when I turn on the tv. The onyl negative is that I have to use 2 different remotes now, since I can't control the audio on the tv. The volume must be controlled via the soundbar remote instead of the tv. This may be different for other tvs, and I suspect a Samsung TV would maybe allow this? I've also used the bluetooth for playing music through my phone via Spotify. It works great. Pairs easily, easy to change the input on the soundbar with the remote to bluetooth, and start playing. For my application, it sits on top of the mantle, and I love the minimalist look. It's not super noticeable, and is easy to put some decor around or in front. The setup was really easy. The wireless subwoofer connected right away, and I haven't had any issues with it. I have it positioned about 10 feet from the soundbar behind a recliner in a corner. I also like that you can control how much bass boost via the remote. This allows you to tune more or less subwoofer to the sound and you can really tell the difference when you change it. I'll probably be getting another one of these when I finish my basement. ... show more

  • Easy to use, easy to setup
Model: HW-A550/ZA Style: Soundbar Only
I donโ€™t watch tv every day, and when I do I watch I maybe an hour or so. Iโ€™m not looking for or expecting a sound system that will blow me away. I wanted something that takes up minima space, and had better clarity than TV speakers. I got this on sale for around $110, and for the price the A550 works well. It pairs with the sub so you can place the sub where you want it and you donโ€™t need to worry about routing wires. It also pairs with your phone so you can play music from it. The soundbar looks clean and doesnโ€™t have annoying lights. You can mount it on the wall if you want. Itโ€™s just a soundbar, so be aware it is not as โ€œfullโ€ sounding as having 5 physical speakers for 5.1. It can use HDMI ARC, HDMI, or optical and BT for other devices. Gripes: 1. When using Optical the sound cut out. Not sure why, but I switched to HDMI. 2. Installing updates requires downloading a file to a certain type of flash drive, and then inserting into the soundbar. There is instructions on it, but some of my flash drives were incompatible. ... show more

  • Samsung A450 soundbar
Model: HW-A450/ZA Style: Soundbar Only
A capable soundbar for the price. Just set your expectations accordingly. You won't mistake it for a soundbar costing 5x as much, but it improved the sound on my Samsung tv a lot. Admittingly my tv sound was bad so that bar was pretty low to begin with. Easy to connect to the tv and worked right away with no problems. I knocked off a star because (1) the sound level does not display on the tv screen when adjusting the sound from the remote, which I find annoying, but it's not a deal breaker for me, (2) getting the remote cover off to put the batteries in was a pain. I finally googled the problem and found videos on how to remove the back cover. You basically have to use a butter knife or small flat screwdriver to pry it off. The fact that there are videos of this out on the web shows that my remote was not an isolated problem. But overall it's a decent soundbar for a reasonable price. I'm satisfied with the purchase. ... show more

  • So far... GREAT !!!!
Model: HW-A650/ZA Style: Soundbar Only
Delivered on time in great shape. Woofer paired automatically. Manually pair sound bar to T.v , there's no easy prompt to pair. Many great features. Usb, audio, bluetooth. Etc connect options. Full USB. Sound: sounds great hooked up to my Samsung 65' 7000 series 4k TV. I use the Dts-x sound mode . It's center channel/ speaker allows for great clear vocals (No more vol at 65 to hear it). Sounds great for music fills my whole house with great sounding music , bass could be better when comes to lows. It's missing that deep rumble of low bass, but overall sounds good. After all it's a cheaper option to improve your audio. Really like it for music . This is my 1st sound bar so I'm happy with it . I do wish display was bigger . As far as remote. It's decent (picture included). I use a universal. For what it's worth I stream Hulu sounds great in app. No cable. ... show more

  • Pretty good sound bar but no perfect
Model: HW-A650/ZA Style: Soundbar Only
Been using it for two days and I am very happy with it. The sound is great and the bass is good enough. The only thing I am kind of disappointed is with the HDMI part. I have Nvidia Shield connected to my 4K TV (at 59hz) by using the HDMI ports. Considering that this sound bar has the HDMI port option I thought it will work as I hoped for, but no. Unfortunately the HDMI port that is used to connect from the sound bar to the TV can only handle 4K at 30Hz. I thought it was a faulty HDMI cable but when I tested them by connecting the Nvidia Shield directly to the TV, it worked as usual. There is no information about this on Samsung website or at Amazon, at the end I did a google search and that's how I find out. So if you want 4K 60Hz signal with this sound bar by using HDMI, then your are out of luck. Fortunately I can pair my Nvidia Shield with the sound bar by Bluetooth and it works great. Besides this caveat, the A650 is pretty simple to use and install (includes the mounting kit). Recommended! ... show more
