Both pieces of the Rio luggage set meet the FAA carry-on regulations. You can easily slide the boarding bag over the handle of the 21" expandable, wheeled upright, making travel a snap. This US Traveler luggage set's metal hardware holds up to the rigors of the shipping process. Densely woven, 1200D polyester is very strong and keeps water from seeping in through the outside. The handle locks in place securely so you don't have to fiddle with it while you walk. A set of skate wheels make the luggage easier to transport without having to pick it up.

I needed these in a pinch for travel i was going on and chose it based on its size, reviews, and available colors. I liked that i could get a different color than a standard plain black, and the green suited me just fine, and also if a friend ever needed to borrow it it would be gender neutral as opposed to a pink one (which i would have loved lol). Though true to other reviews the green color is NOT as bright and pretty as it appears on the photo, it is a little more muted, but a little more woodsy than olive id say. I have a ton of pics i took from various angles of all its features and even with it stuff full but i don't see where i can post them on this particular items page. :( I have no complaints over the durability of the suitcase (i don't use the mini one) kinda stupid, don't know if anyone ever uses them, not big enough for my laptop. So the suitcase will be the main point of my review. The item held up just fine and had no problems with it as a carry on. I flew through American Airlines for all flights and never once had any question of its size/weight issue and didn't have to check it. It rolled smoothly through the airport. the wheels worked well and had no issues with the handle. extended/retracted simple and quickly with a push of the button on top. there was an occasional tip or flip, but i attribute that to my handling of the bag as its a narrower than a larger one so it was easy to accidentally twist when pulling it up next to you, But that was mainly just how i was handling it. It can actually fit a pretty good amount of stuff in it. I had 2 pairs of jeans, house sweats, yoga style sweats, 8 shirts, 10 underwear and a couple bras, 4 pairs of socks, and a pair of low profile sneakers, pair of flats, and heels. Oh and an extra hoodie on top of all of that. Also had my makeup bag stashed in it too. All that WITHOUT the use of the 3" extender that unzips if you need it. I didn't want to risk having to check it. However on one of my flights, to/from an airforce base in a tiny plane, they had no room for carry ons so they had to be checked (no fee i might add) and it help up fine against their rough handling. Made it through the airports 6 times and came home in just as good condition as we left. Fortunately no scuffs or marks from being handled by agents or thrown on the belt or plane, and held a ton of stuff! all the intimates and socks and things were stowed in the zip mesh pocket on the inside, packed shoes in the bottom, then pants, then tops, then hoodie, I am very please with the durability and quality of this piece for a pretty decent price. It did what i needed it to do and did its job well. i really have no complaints about it at all and can't wait to go on another trip with it. ... show more

Bought for my teen son who is not gentle on luggage. Two weeks around Europe with cobblestone streets every day, banging up and down stairs (no elevators in some hotels) and being checked on multiple flights were no problem for this suitcase. The expandable part was great since he had to pack 14 days into this carryon and a backpack. No issues as a carryon and durable enough to check baggage. Definitely light but still durable, I packed it to the brim and it held great!! It came with a small lock which was also very convenient! It looks nice and feels nice, but most importantly it can hold a lot of things and the handles make it easy to carry. The only thing I didn’t like so much was the fact that it didn’t have wheels on the front. Because of this, whenever I set the suitcase down, it kind of just fell over. ... show more

This US Traveler set is perfect for traveling "carry-on". It adheres to the standards of every airline i checked. It's bright yellowish color stands out in a crowd and makes it easy to locate. The "personal" bag seems a bit small, but could be used most of the time for short trips orfor sight seeing at your destination. I was a little bit weary about this bag because of some of the negative reviews, but after actually getting my hands on two of them I'm glad to know that my worries were unfounded. The bags are a little on the thin side, but if you're just packing essentials (aka what carryons are MEANT to be used for) the bags do their job just fine. I tested a few different packing options based on things I may use them for (short vacations and evacuating during hurricanes being the biggies) and the bags are totally fine. I can only assume that everyone who's had issues with stability or the zippers has been guilty of overpacking. That problem is on the consumer, not the bags themselves. Between the bags being decent AND being priced relatively cheap, I for sure recommend them. Maybe even go as far as to buy an extra like I did. I enjoy the matching set although it seems smaller than expected. The main issue is that it’s very lightweight and flimsy when filled - balance is off and staying upright is a challenge for the larger suitcase. I will continue to use the set, but it’s not a replacement for a durable suitcase and won’t fit more than a weekend’s worth of clothes and toiletries. ... show more

I could easily fit 4 days worth of clothing in the carryon. It is easy to maneuver and stands straight without falling. It fit easily in the aircraft compartment. The smaller bag fits over the handles of the carryon for easy transportaion. I used the smaller bag for all of my liquids, a bag with makeup, chargers, an extra pair of clothes, etc. And still had plenty of room. This was a good purchase for airline travel! ... show more

I bought this luggage set as a last-minute panic thing for a trip to England, and honestly didn't expect it to last the year. Fast forward eleven years later, and it's still in great shape. I bought it in purple, which turned out to be a great choice for spotting it on conveyors. Turns out no one else ever has purple luggage. The best feature of this suitcase is it always, always fits in overhead compartments, even on smaller planes. The only time I've ever had to gate-check it is if I was one of the last to board and there was no more room. The only issue I've had is that the zipper on the shoulder bag busted a while ago, so it doesn't close anymore, but it's still functional. The set is a little rickety, especially the telescoping pull-along handle. But as long as you aren't beating it up, it should do just fine. ... show more
