It's a great value, heavy duty, comes with high grade hardware and has a good powder coating, LEDs are bright and the welds appear solid, it fit perfect and looks great. The first unit was shipped and arrived via UPS but it appeared that it was handled roughly, upon inspection there was some damage. I contacted the seller and they responded quickly and immediately sent a return UPS label and shipped a new replacement. With the true off-road bumpers being crazy expensive, I thought I would give this U-Box bumper a try on my 2008 Tacoma. (Note, this is a Hooke Road bumper - there are other postings using that name for a few bucks difference. It's the same thing). The bumper shipped from California and went across the country at a reasonable speed. It arrived in a cardboard box with a little damage, but no bad damage to the bumper. Wrestling my old bumper OFF after 11 years of Maine road salt was the hard part. The new bumper went on pretty easily. I replaced the 6 bolts that go into the frame(12mm, real fine thread, with a captive washer). I recommend doing this while you've got them out. The only place you will get these is at a Toyota dealer. They weren't expensive. The old bumper was attached with two bolts on each side the same as at the frame end. That is, they went into a welded-on nut on the bumper. On the new bumper, it's just a hole through, so you could use any bolt and nut. I used 1/2" grade 8 bolts and nuts (not metric) because it's about the size of 12mm, and it's what my big box store had. As others have mentioned, the bumper included two fasteners (not the 6 it says it comes with). They were way too small. Bizarre, and useless. I threw them out. There was one sheet of instructions included. They were not far off the original Mandarin. Also Bizarre and useless. I threw them out, too, after reading step one"Remove the original rear bumper" and step 2, "Install the rear bumper on the vehicle". That's pretty much all you need to know. By leaving all the bolts loose, and using a Hi-Lift jack to hold the bumper up and in (with a couple sheets of cardboard under the tail light to leave me a little gap, I was able to get a pretty good fit. It's not perfect, but it's better than I thought it would be. It looks pretty good. I ordered some new LED license plate lights, which went into the cut-outs in the bumper easily (after cutting off a little plastic tab). I did not install the D-rings. I regard these as merely decorative. They cut hole through the bumper to weld them, but didn't provide any reinforcement behind, or really tie them to the frame. If I need to pull, I'll do it from my trailer hitch. I did add an after-market trailer hitch at the same time. It pokes out under the bumper, and fits well. In short, This product looks pretty nice. The welds are good, it's sturdy (mine weighed 56 pounds), and the finish is really nice. I'm pleased. I think it is a nice compromise, unless you really NEED a true off-road bumper. ... show more

    • It’s sturdy, looks expensive but ain’t-
Had my mechanic install on my 2011 Tacoma. Looks sturdy and strong. The reverse flood lights are nice and extra bright. I know it will perform well on the Mexican beaches this fall. I will use my tow hitch, though, to bungee pull stuck rigs, nothing against the bumper. To me a sturdy rear bumper like this has two primary functions that I know it will do well at- 1. Protect my ass from objects it may come in contact with and 2 - be able to handle a bumper jack. ... show more

Bumper doesn't fit, hits the tail lights. Broke a tail light on install. Took tail lights out after breaking one. Installed the bumper with only 4 bolts because 2 of the 6 are not even close to lining up. Tried to reinstall tail lights and they don't clear the sides of the bumper. Thought maybe it was because aftermarket tail light so I retrieved the original broken one I kept for parts. Doesn't clear the bumper either. 7 hours of cussing only to have to take it off and send it back. ... show more

    • Need the replacement bolts and nuts for frame horn
It was missing 4 bolts to mount on the the frame horn( had to make a stop at Home Depot) but glad it came with the 2 short ones that were actually needed to replace the Oem bolts which were too long for this bumper that attaches on to the trailer hitch(2 middle bolts). Also, the four bolts and nuts that need to be replaced are due to stock oem bumper having it’s nuts welded onto the bumper All in all good product. ... show more

    • No bolts
The bumper is great. Love it. Would have been better if the bolts were shipped. Got two bolts two bolts for the hitch but not the four to install on the frame. Had to go to the hardware store and purchase.

best bumper ever! strong construction, good fit, easy install. installed on a 2013 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 TRD offroad. I wired the LED lights to a switch other than to the reverse lights. I wanted them for darker situations. going to tuff coat paint the front bumper to match.
