The heat output from this heater is decent indoors, but I wouldn’t really trust it alone outdoors. The heat really is only felt directionally, meaning you have to be sitting right in front of it and within I’d say about 8 feet. The instructions to build the stand are good but then nothing. My husband and I just had to wing mounting the heater on the stand. We also spent hours trying to figure out how to run it on to test it. It has a great safety feature that requires it to be level to operate, unfortunately nothing tells you about this feature so we thought we had a dud until my husband figured it out. If you have a small room or office, maybe like 12*12 or smaller, this would be a good heater to keep you comfortable. The remote also only works if you are standing all the way on the right side of the unit. You can’t be in front of it at all. You have to get up and stand on the right side of the unit to control it. Overall, it’s well made and it functions well but I am not crazy about the design. I use it in my living room almost every evening right now because it’s too expensive to run my heater for the whole house when we really only use a few rooms. We turn this on when we watch TV at night and from about 10’ away, it’s comfortable at its highest setting. It is quite large and not exactly attractive looking but it gets the job done.     • Limited range, but works
First, be aware of the warnings that come with the product, for example not using this with a surge protector. Also, depending on your circumstances you may want to weight it down with the provided bags to prevent tipping over. Because on the tripod it’s quite top-heavy. This comes with two sets of instructions, however none of them deal with setting up on the tripod. Where to figure out how to screw that in ourselves. However, it does come with instructions for attaching it to the wall or ceiling. At first we thought it wasn't working, and it was showing us the temperature in Celsius as 23. However, we realized that it was an error code E2 where it thought it was tipped over and the safety feature was activated, so that is why it was not turned on. Turns out that due to the lack of instructions we had installed it upside down. Once that was fixed, we turn it on. The remote work fine. They are two different heat settings. However, to me the heat is not really felt further than maybe 7-8 feet away on the high setting, and it would take a while to heat up a larger room. Also, since the LED indicator is on the side of the unit, it is not easy to see what the current setting is, although you can see by the light tubes whether it is on, on high, or on low. So that's not a big deal. In summary, this seemed like a great way to heat up the room efficiently, but that would depend on the room size and proximity. If larger or further it seems that you would have to wait a while for that to happen if you are not really near to the unit. If that is a scenario which works for you, this might work for you. If you can wait and are ok with this since this method is more efficient, be aware of the safety considerations and you’ll be ok. ... show more

    • Decent heater
This is a decent heater for a single area. It was really easy to put together, and I was up and running in under 10 minutes. The remote works well distance-wise, but needs to be pointed at the side of the heater with the control display for the heater to register it - if you're directly in front, it won't pick it up. The included tripod is pretty beefy, and the sandbags to weigh the feet down is a nice add. The heat the unit puts out is essentially a 6 foot by 6 foot area directly in front of it. There's no blower, so it's not going to heat a garage (as an example), but if you're sitting outside on your patio in the winter inside that 6x6 area, you're going to be nice and toasty. It's essentially just a big heating element, so the closer you are, the warmer you will be. If you're looking to warm a larger area, you might want to consider something with a blower, but if you have a smaller area and are concerned with noise, this would be the way to go.     • Wish Heat Would Come on When Powered On
I like this pretty well, but I do wish the heat came on when it's powered on. Some heaters do this depending on the setting of the thermostat. This has no thermostat - just high and low. And if you lose power and then the power comes back on, the heat doesn't. But other than that, I like it. I will say, if I didn't see the description here, I wouldn't know what those bags are for. They're sandbags to attach to the legs. I'll also say, I think this one is priced too much higher than similar patio heaters. ... show more

When the Michigan winter recently hit, it brought some very cold weather with it and that makes the garage very cold to perform general tasks. I wanted something that is geared for the outdoors and would be a suitable fit for the garage. This item certainly fit the bill and for the price I think you get quite a bit for the money. What comes in the package is a stand, the heater, remote, and installation hardware. The instructions were not great outlining the install on the tripod, however, they were very clear for wall mounting this item. Bear in mind this item is an infrared heater, it gets warm very fast although there’s no fan to blow the air around. That being said it’ll take some time to heat up your space depending on how large of an area you’re covering. I really like the fact that this can be wall mounted or put on the tripod to move it around. You’ve got two heat settings along with a timer if you want it to run and shut off after a certain period of time. I’ll make note that the name badge on the unit is extremely sharp and cut my hand when I was wiping this down. It does a great job putting out heat even in the dead of winter. Overall I’m very pleased with this item and happy to have it as part of my equipment for the garage. Give it a try! ... show more
