I paint with acrylics, oils an watercolors and found this paper best suitable for acrylics. When I paint oils I use a very primed canvas and a layer of liquid white to get seamless blending and this paper is just not conducive for that style of painting. For me personally, it was just too rough for oil painting. This is the kind of paper you use if you want to see the texture and are using a lot more paint which is generally how I paint with acrylics. I did remove the sheets from the pad and tape them down but they were a good quality and thickness and did not warp or bubble with the paint on them. Definitely not for watercolor, I didn't even attempt this because I didn't want to waste paper. Overall, this is a nice paper if you are looking for a less costly way of creating art. I personally still prefer stretched canvas but if I am experimenting with techniques or a new design, this gives me a really great media to practice on. ... show more

it’s important to note that this is canvas paper, not watercolor paper. it has a crosshatch/linen textured surface on one side and is smooth on the other. it is primed and ready to go if that’s your style but i always prime my papers with gesso because i like to scratch into paint and really work a surface so having that extra layer of gesso is ideal. at 140lb it’s a good weight to accept quite a bit of paint and can be used with both oils and acrylics as well as various dry media. i never work in the actual pad, always detach my pieces of paper, but if you like to keep it in the pad these are pretty well glue-secured. 9x12” is a very versatile size - small enough to take with you on travels or working plein air, but big enough for a good level of detail or expressiveness. i personally usually prefer smoother watercolor paper to paint on with acrylics because it’s more durable but this held up really well in my test piece. but even with many layers of paint and gesso on it, it still feels flimsier than watercolor paper, FYI. but if you are someone who really likes the feel and texture of canvas, this will probably work for you. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This paper can take a lot of paint without any curling. I used acrylics and a “scrape” painting method. I thought this could put the paper to the test as you are dragging and layering lots of paint on. It did not rip or soak through the paper. It has a canvas textured surface which could be smoothed with a coat of gesso if desired. ... show more

I liked using this pad a lot! The paper has just enough gesso to keep the pages upright and sturdy without warping from water or moisture. I can separate the paper from the pad and have it remain flat. It works great with gouache, oil paint and acrylics. Its cotton, so there is a slight amount of texture, but its not enough to be noticeable. Its also fairly easy to draw with graphite directly on the pad with pencils, pens or markers without too much distortion. If you like making smaller pictures, or mock-ups for larger works, I think this pad would work well for you. ... show more

I was quite pleased with the heavy weight of this canvas paper. I have used other brands of lighter weight canvas paper when I lead a few acrylic painting parties in the past for friends and co-workers, and that canvas paper was great for exploring mixing colors or for experimenting with textures and techniques with brushstrokes, natural sponges, and old gift cards before painting on the actual canvas. I appreciate that this canvas paper is 140 lb. weight. I had purchased Tumuarta Watercolor Paper in the past, mostly for swatching and testing color mixing and brushes. I was pleased with the paper for daily painting practice without using my more expensive paper. It held up well. When I saw that this canvas paper was the same brand, I decided to give it a try for my acrylic painting. This can be easily cut into 4.5 x 6" and 6 X 9" sizes for smaller paintings as well as for journal pages to include in a painting journal with watercolor papers. I will probably tape a full sheet to a board and prop that up on my easel for stability since I have not yet tried an actual painting on canvas paper. I look forward to creative experimentation with this sturdy canvas paper. ... show more

I really like this paper. It's really thick, it has a nice texture to it so acrylic and oil paint sticks to it well. I typically paint with gouache, I noticed it had a little bit of an issue with the watered down paints blending on the paper, but the paper is thick enough that I can layer pretty thick and work the water into the paper without it warping, which is nice. ... show more
