  • Great sketch pad!
Purchased this sketch pad to go with an art supply kit for my 9 year old granddaughter. The paper is of good quality and she has used it for many of her art projects. Crayons, chalk, colored pencils, watercolor paints, etc. have all been used with great results. This pad would be wonderful for anyone who loves to draw. It is definitely not just for children. ... show more

  • Good Value
I'd gotten this sketchbook many times before, and just needed a replacement after I lost my other one. The paper is thick enough that ripping from excessive force/strokes is not an issue, but not so thick that I would suggest anything but pencil, charcoal, or pen. I've tried to use brush markers (like copics) on the paper, and it does bleed through pretty easily. Even if you put a tissue/napkin under the page you're drawing on, it still leaks through to the reverse side of the page, so I wouldn't suggest it if you like to use both sides of your paper. The front cover is just paper of similar thickness to the pages inside, and the back cover is the customary thick cardboard that gives you a level surface to draw on and keeps the sketchbook from getting too beat up. ... show more

  • Nice and cheap sketchbook
It's a sketchbook it's got paper and all that. It's also cheap, should add that, y'know maybe add a point for that. Maybe buy another sketchbook if you plan on using copics or doing any sort of painting. This sketchbook is mainly sketching and using dry media.

  • All around it's good paper. And you get a lot of it. But...
I absolutely love Strathmore sketchbooks. Their paper is next level. And they have all types for all artists. I wasn't expecting my typical 400 series awesome paper. It said that is was 200 series which they determine "good" and I do like the paper. I got it from their Strathmore store here on Amazon because I'm crash coursing it as a beginner artist who found art to be the most therapeutic way to spend my time with a lifelong progressively degenerative genetic chronic illness that has caused me to be in bed almost all the time. The thing is, I do my art stuff (even painting which is rarer than I'd like) on my bed. The reason I didn't give this paper 5 stars is because the large spiral causes my pages to slide around if I move and then it folds and creases my hard work (which makes sense for a thinner paper). Lastly my gel pens and ballpoint pens leave deep divets and even bleed through at times. In this case I can rarely use the other side of the page greatly minimizing the massive amount of pages I was expecting from this sketchbook. It has a ton of pages so that's not a huge deal and man was it cheap. I paid very little for aa lot of decent drawing paper that's good for swatching and sketching before final drawings, taking note and measurements and scrap drawing paper. I hate the spiral bound crazy amount of sliding around it does. The crevasses from my pens and the bleed through. So now I know to just spend the money for the better series and to have a bound sketchbook instead of the giant spiral. Overall, decent paper, extremely affordable so we'll worth buying. Definitely will not hold up to any sort.of wet medium. This is drawing paper only. Hope this helps some of you! And happy arting. You're getting better every time that pencil hits the paper! ... show more

  • Thin paper, great for pencils only
Strathmore is obviously quality paper. This paper is as thin as copy paper. Theres not really a point to getting quality paper for sketches in my opinion. A cheap sketch book would do just as good.
