Note: The color selection when I purchased this bag (and as of this writing, still on the website) says the bag is "Slate Green", but it is actually black. The manufacturer mentioned in the Q&A that this bag does not come in green. The exterior overall dimensions for the International Expandable Rollaboard are: 21.5" x 15.75" x 7.75", which equals 45 linear inches (55x40x20cm = 115 cm). This fits the current carry-on requirements for many airlines. The interior dimensions are 20" x 15" x 7.75", and the weight is 5.4 lbs. The label says the volume is 45 liters. I already own the Osprey Ozone 18"/36 L Wheeled Luggage, Black that I LOVE as a carry-on, but, but I wanted another bag that would fit most carry-on requirements but also be sturdy enough to check it. (The Ozone is really well made, but because the shell is soft (like a backpack), things inside might get crushed.) The Travelpro bag looks like it will be perfect. It seems very sturdy and well-built, including the well-padded fabric handles on the top and side. The wheels also look very solid. The expansion section is a nice feature, although using it may exceed size requirements for a carry-on for some airlines. Nice for having a little extra space if that's not an issue. Besides the main opening for the interior, there is a large outside zippered pocket that is the full length of the top flap (I don't have a laptop, but it looks like it would probably hold up to a 17" laptop), and also a smaller zippered compartment that is about 6.5" deep. Great for keeping your boarding pass or anything else you want quick access to. The interior is a light-colored plaid fabric, which I prefer to black since it's easier to see things in it. There's a large mesh pocket on the top flap, and a small interior pocket on one side of the main compartment. This particular piece also comes in a "spinner" version Travelpro Luggage Maxlite 5 International Expandable Spinner Suitcase Carry-On, Black, which has 4 wheels on casters instead of the 2 inline wheels. I know a lot of people like spinners because of the ease of pushing them around in any direction, but I chose the rollaboard over the spinner for several reasons: casters are more likely to get broken than inline wheels, I don't have to worry about my luggage rolling away if I'm on a slope, and I find the 2-wheeled bags easier to control over uneven surfaces. But most important, for the same exterior height, rollaboards have more interior space than spinners because of the extra space required for casters. As a comparison, the interior dimensions for the spinner model are 18 x 15 x 7.75, which is 2" less in height than the rollaboard. That's a difference of about 232 square inches, and in a small bag, every little bit helps. Plus the exterior dimensions for the spinner are actually slightly bigger than the rollaboard, at 21.75" high instead of 21.5" high (same width/depth). That makes the total linear measurement of the spinner 45.25", which slightly exceeds some airline maximums of 45". ... show more

Howdy all, well my wife and I travel I bet both domestic an international. It is always my desire to travel as light as possible. This bag offers that function, with it and a nice carry on I can pretty much go any place for a long period of time. Understand that I travel pretty light. Also to give you of an understanding from where I come from, I am an employee of a airline and works with the bag systems. This will be good to know for what I'm about to state. The bag is used by many of our flight attendants who require good bags that are well-made, and Light, and function Dependabley. The bag as stated above is well-built and very light. It has wheels that are recessed into the luggage. To me this is a very important feature, for most of today's bags use casters, while these casters may offer some ease of use, they generally are more of a problem then they are worth. One thing the casters add to the length of the bag, and second they are easily broken off ruining the bag. The bag also has and excellent extending handle that locks into place minimizing the damage it could receive when being handled. Yes, this is no bargain bag as far as price goes but the quality of the bag is well worth the cost. Also the bag offers a high resistance to handling damage, for you see a soft fabric will give to being bumped around ,dropped, are being expose to many aspects of handling that the General Public may not know. It is my humble opinion, that if you I want a good quality bag and not a bargain bag, this would be a good choice. Hope that helps ... show more

This is my second Travel Pro roll aboard. My first one lasted 20 years or more. So, I’m brand loyal because it is easy to pack, holds an amazing amount for a small bag, and rolls even better with improved wheels. It also looks smart.

    • Good lightweight suitcase, but feet keep getting torn off during airline travel

I've owned this suitcase for 5 years and am now having to replace it due to wear and tear. The positives: I love that's it's two-wheeled, lightweight and generally easy to use. Both the aluminum tube handle and the zips have held up. The negatives: I've had significant trouble with the feet of the suitcase being torn off. After a few trips, one of the feet got torn off by baggage handling during a flight. A few months later on a different flight, the other foot was torn off. I contacted Travelpro, who sent me replacement feet for free, but it still cost me $50 to have a repair shop install them. A year later, I AGAIN lost first one and then the other foot during different flights. The way the feet are designed - sticking out on the diagonal - leaves them vulnerable to baggage handling. For the last year, I've just used it with no feet, but now the fabric on the underside has frayed and the fabric around the zipper on the underside is starting to pull away. It is also prone to falling over without the feet. Travelpro - would love it if you'd redesign the feet on this suitcase! For me, that would make this the perfect check-in bag. ... show more

I found this suitcase after having a very bad experience with a different brand. I owned a different 22” suitcase that seemed perfect. Except if fell over when packed. Not very handy, especially on a bus tour that hustled. It was so bad it almost landed in traffic. So I was a bit skeptical as I had visions of the one too going plop. I was very surprised when it stood the test on a very active bus tour around Colorado. It never fell over, was absolutely solid through the many hotel handlers, and was very roomy. The old one that fell over is out out out. This is my new fav and I highly recommend it. No wimpy laying down on the job with this one. ... show more
