  • Perfect for small backyards!
Style: Explorer Den
We are loving this climbing structure! My kids are 3 and 5 and constantly climbing on things, but we don't have room in our backyard for a full playset. The Explorer has a relatively small footprint, but keep in mind you will need a couple feet of grass or other soft surface in every direction for safety. The platform is about 4 feet high, so I would not put this on a hard surface like cement. It comes with 3 big stakes to put in the ground so it doesn't fly away in the wind. The structure is stable - it does shake a bit, but it would be very difficult to make it tip over. It is rated for 100kg (220 lbs). Assembly: it took 2 adults (with 2 children playing nearby) two hours to assemble. The only tools needed were included in the box. The instructions were pretty good, but could have been a little more specific. We weren't sure which side of the pools should face out or in. We ended up making the sides with the dimple face inward to make it the nuts a little more flush. Also, the first step is to find one unique piece out of a bag of 50+ other parts. Literally like finding a needle in a haystack. They could package that piece separately so you start off on the right foot. It would also be nice if they included 1-2 extra locking washers. We ended up 1 short in the end. It may have fallen in the grass. Quality: overall, I'm really pleased with the quality. All the metal parts are painted and I found no imperfections at all. I think the paint will hold up really well. Even when some of the pieces clanged together during assembly, the paint didn't scratch or chip. Each of the bars that go horizontally have soft plastic caps on end that seem to make it more safe (no sharp ends). The platform has 4 large loops on each of the 6 sides with heavy duty stitching. The tent part has tons of velcro strips that attached it to the frame - another safety feature I'm sure. It keeps the tent in place so a kid doesn't lean against it and fall through. Shipping: it took a long time and several calls to Amazon Customer Service to actually receive the package, which was super annoying, but not a ding on the product itself. When it finally arrived, the box had damage in one corner (see photos), but nothing inside was damaged or missing. The shipping box is smaller than I expected - roughly 3ft x 1ft x 4 inches. Fun factor: Our kids have been having a ton of fun and really using their imaginations to play! The structure has been a rocket, a garage for bikes, and an ice cream shop. They love to tie a rope to the frame and pull themselves up while they climb. Its just the right size for 2 kids to play at the same time. We would love to get either the monkey bars or the slide that are pictured on the box, but unfortunately they aren't available in the U.S. yet. ... show more

  • Perfect for young climbers
Style: Explorer Den
Our 3 year old grandchild loves this!!! The older ones, 9 & 10, weren't too impressed. They felt it is for "babies". It's not very difficult to assemble but it's important to sort the pieces before you start!! It did not come with any extra pieces so be careful to keep up with all of the hardware for assembly. It is not heavy duty and the weight limit given maybe should be less. But, it's perfect for the younger ones. It works in a small area. We only ordered the unit that you see in the picture. We did not purchase other items that could be used as an extension. The instructions advise to take in the cover off when not in use, out of the weather. We did not do this! It has finally, after several year, started tearing and fading. Everything else has held up fine. ... show more

  • A good, fun playground item that could be a bit better
Style: Explorer Den
Positives: 1. The preschool age kids love playing on it. 2. Compared to other playground equipment, the delivered package was lightweight and easy to haul around. 3. The item could be assembled without special tools in a few hours. 4. The item can be moved around the yard easily, but is still sturdy enough for the kids' rough playing Negatives: 1. The cardboard delivery box was low-quality with tears and holes. All the pieces were still in the box, though. 2. The screws are made of soft metal that easily strips if tightened/loosened too many times. 3. Should we use or discard the rubber bar covers? The directions don't say. Plus, the pictures of the fully-assembled item on Amazon are inconsistent (some with rubber bar covers and some without). 4. Some bars have sunken screw holes on one side and flat screw holes on the opposite side. The item is far easier to assemble if the screws go into the sunken holes and the bolts go into the flat holes (instead of vice versa). However, the directions don't specify that information, leaving us to discover it by trial and error. ... show more

  • Missing parts
Style: Explorer Den
Well I had high expectations it is what you pay for and not to hard to put together. But.... missing one leg can’t get a replacement they come from Europe and they won’t ship to the US . This was a gift for my grandson on his birthday so it was bought early and now it’s to late to return, I should have checked it sooner for all the parts! Lesson learned! He still has fun with the short version lol Would someone from Amazon please help! ... show more

  • Perfect for a small yard and an active three year old
Style: Explorer Den
I am very impressed with the quality of this Explorer 2 Climbing Jungle Gym with Platform and Jungle Run. * It is sturdy and stable. It comes with stakes to hold the jungle gym in place; however, we did not find they were needed because it is so solid. * The manufacturer (made in the U.K. and France) paid attention to detail. Each piece has rounded corners with clear rubber corner covers for safety. * The directions are clear and assembly is easy. It took two adults two hours to assemble the play structure and one adult less than an hour to assemble the jungle run. * The blue cover is easily removed for play without the "capsule." The capsule can be accessed from two sides that open and roll up and have velcro tabs to hold in place at the ceiling. Our three year old plays on the jungle gym constantly. ... show more
