  • WORKS GREAT
O K. I have a south facing window with sun blocking drapes that are very expensive and a little to short so the bright sun hits about 4 inches of my light sensitive floor. I bought this product cut it in half which gave me about an 8 inch strip and applied it to the bottom of the window. Install was a breeze. It completely blocked the light and went on very easily. Perfect for my needs. The only potential issue would be if it comes off but there have been no complaints about that. Here are my suggestions for the install. I cut the product about a half inch longer than i needed. I then cleaned the window thoroughly. I had a 16oz water bottle with 3 drops of dish soap. I sprayed the window, peeled the product and sprayed the back with the water. The result is that when you put it on the window it slides very easily. It was very easy to move and adjust. Being new I put on a little more water than necessary which made more work to squeegee it off. It does not take a lot of water on either surface, just a very light spray will do. Many people use credit cards as a squeegee but i used a 3 inch and 6 inch flexible dry wall knives an they worked like a charm. It was extremely easy to put on an it works exactly as I had hoped. I highly recommend this product. ... show more

Super easy to apply - much more forgiving than other films. It is thicker and softer than traditional "tint" films, but does truly darken a room. There is a bit of translucence - you will be able to see that there is light outside, but this is the only film I've ever found that qualifies as blackout (except for aluminum foil, if you want that "meth lab" aesthetic). Highly recommend. Install tip: don't try to be cute and pre-cut it to size. Cut it oversize by a minimum of 2" in each direction. Wet the hell out of it and the window, and slap it up there. Be sure both sides are wet before you start smoothing it out. When you have all the bubbles out of the middle and are down to the edges, use a razor or Exacto knife and metal ruler; press the ruler against the film and apply pressure toward the outside edge as you slide your knife down the length. After you've trimmed the excess, remove the remainder of the bubbles from the edges. Use less pressure than you did in the middle to prevent additional stretching of the film and screwing up your immaculately trimmed edges. :) ... show more

  • I'd give it a B+
Size: 36 x 72 inches
Having a bedroom that gets full eastern sunlight can be a bit of a nightmare, as many can attest. There came a need for my s/o to work nights when the world went sideways and dawn was no longer a friendly welcome - something had to be done. I'm not displeased with this solution. Pros: - Drastically darkens the room (not completely black out, direct sun can still shine in a tiny bit) - No glues or adhesives required - Straight forward to apply - Landlord friendly Cons: - Not 100% black out - Too much heat and it will slip - just had a corner do it, but after only 4 days in May. - Cutting it precisely for the surface is...a pain in the a** - recommend an art knife and a ruler - Rather easy to tear during placement Ultimately my solution for the 2nd & 3rd con was not pretty, but is effective. I got a bunch of black electrical tape and I taped up all around the edges. No slip, no bits of light peeking through edges ... show more

  • Doesn't stay on
Used this to blacken out the windows in the bedrooms in our camper. I'll start with the positive. I liked the fact that that it was truly blackoutand easy to install. The negatives: the first 2 windows I tried one didn't stay on longer than 3 days. I only did 2 windows at first just to see if it would work. I figured maybe I did something wrong and tried again. Then I redid the window that fell off and did another 3 windows however it only last a week. So unfortunately I do not have a good review as I was hoping it would last longer than a week considering we are only at the beginning of the camping season. ... show more

  • Maybe good in a perfect scenario, but…
Size: 36 x 144 inches
Well, it does block out light. If you have perfectly flat glass with 90° corners, you can probably get this to work, but it WILL NOT WORK if your glass has any sort of concave curve to it, you might get it to stretch over a convex, but not the other way. You’ll also never get rounded corners cut to fit exactly, so light will be leaking through. I used on auto windows, with a slight curve and the film constantly lifted at the edges and pulled its self loose. Fought one window for an hour and the next day the film was in a pile on the floor. Ended up using black duct tape to hold all the edges down and I still don’t expect it to stay put. If you are using on flat, rectangular glass, it will probably stick, but you’ll need help and lots of paper towels. The spray bottle of soapy water method does actually work (use a squeegee, not a card) as long as you use lots of it. Be prepared to clean up a mess. I wish they wouldn’t try so hard to make it removable, give me a version that sticks like duct tape and let me worry about removing it. “Removable” is another word for “not easy to stick”. Next time I’m just going to paint the glass. ... show more
