This is a fun unique hockey game, its kind of like pegboard but with hockey. It is probably worth noting that the packaging is all in French. The game is fairly sturdy but could still get crushed if you put something too heavy on top of it.

    • Not your father's Irwin Toy tabletop hockey game. Flimsy, almost all plastic. Cramped.
Full disclosure: I bought this for myself when I saw it offered on Vine and had a huge flashback to my childhood in Canada. As a kid, I had a much bigger unit that was built with steel, aluminum, wood, and very little plastic. The thing was indestructible. It also came fully assembled with steel players and both magnetic and standard pucks. This will be a display item as I don't have any rugrats running around. And this rink is made very cheaply compared to those made decades ago by bankrupt Irwin Toy. The playing surface is also very cramped compared to the Power Play 2 Retro from the same company. This one is something of a pain to put together, too. I would like to point out that the seller is being quite loose with the facts. It is mentioning "Irwin Toy" here but that company dissolved in 2003. This is made by Lykit Limited (Toronto) according to the fine print on the box and the company's website. For very young kids only. Or old guys like me. My rating system: 5 Stars = Knocks it out of the park. A great value! 4 Stars = Excellent product. A solid buy. 3 Stars = It provides some value, but perhaps not as advertised. 2 Stars = A little dubious, so do your research. Read the critical reviews! 1 Star = Avoid this product and look elsewhere. ... show more

I'm so happy I was able to receive this table top hockey game. My family was so happy to receive this table top hockey game by Top Shelf. It was delivered fast and packaged well. I put it together my self and it was fairly easy. My kids help put the stickers on and the players. My whole family played for hours. We took turns and played in teams. None of us are good at the game put that made it so much more fun. The table top hockey games is sturdy and durable. I definitely recommend this Top Shelf table hockey game if you love having fun and being competitive at the same time, you won't be disappointed. ... show more

Don't get me wrong, this game is very fun, but there are some issues. If it was just gameplay, this would be five stars. The assembly instructions leave a bit to be desired. The "see figure" instructions refer to a small figure that is hard to follow. I've included an image on the back to help. To assemble, you have to deform the some of the rods and hope that you get them back in shape. The rod grippers sometimes come off while playing, especially the goalie one. When it does come off of the goalie, there is a pinch hazard. The players move around better than I thought, giving pretty good coverage of the rink. There seem to be more stickers than needed. They give two different game labels and two different scoring stickers. It's almost like they made a sticker set for two versions. One of the sticker sets is too big to fit on the rink. The scoring slider doesn't attach to the board. It just sets on top and gets knocked off by the puck or just by shaking the rink. Later: I would recommend gluing some of the knobs on as they keep coming off. Also, it would be nice if they gave you a couple of different colored knobs to help you find the right player in the heat of the game. ... show more

This arrived very quickly. A thing to consider is that it arrived in its box, so you know what's inside. Just something to consider if you are buying it as a gift for someone that lives in your house. I got this to play with the little guy when he visits. it's a lot like a foosball table. You have to turn and spin levers to move your team. It certainly helps with hand eye coordination. Keeping score is easy because you can slide the bars right on the table. The assembly is not for the feint of heart. You need to be able to bend some rods. Which the metal pieces are not pristine. You're going to get some grime on your hands putting this together. Never fear - you clean up easy with good old soap and water. The stickers were the thing I found the most tedious. I just don't have the patience for that stuff. I left that for the AR person in the house. We followed the suggestion of a previous reviewer and dabbed some glue onto the handles before putting them in place. Pretty pleased and this is a no electricity needed snow day activity. Would give this as a gift to any aspiring hockey fan. ... show more

All of the pieces and the rods were very dirty. You can see a picture of my hand just from putting the rods in of how dirty it was (as well as a picture of some of the pieces). I'd recommend cleaning it up a bit after you open everything before assembling. Overall, the whole thing feels cheaply made and constructed. Don't get me wrong, it works pretty well and the players move smoothly - it just seems a little bit overpriced for what it is. Putting all of the stickers on the players is a bit of a pain (two stickers per player/goalie) and then attempting to fit the large side stickers on is interesting - there's nothing in the instructions about them so you just pick whether to use them or not I guess (same with the scoring stickers - you have to be careful to align the numbers with the notches). The score tracker piece just sits on top so easily falls off. The grips on the handles can come off somewhat easily - the goalie grip falls off very easily and comes off pretty constantly during gameplay. In general, the game can be fun much like a full size bubble hockey game. ... show more
