Mine arrived in what looked like new factory packaging, but with one of its four lid clips broken, plus deep scratches in its inside bowl bottom. Desperate, I decided to keep it anyway because I’m so tired of being scalded by spills. Due to a stroke, I’ve but limited use of one hand and hot foods are always a danger, and this little bowl allows me to steam/reheat stuff in the microwave with its handle never getting hot. Even more miraculously, mine having only three clips still keeps its lid on, vents steam as designed, and lets me hold it comfortably on my lap with one impaired hand as I maneuver my wheelchair with the other, all while keeping me unburnt and rendering my ramen/chicken/broccoli lunch not only edible but delicious. Yes, it would’ve been ethical to inform me that the product was used, but I guess somebody in quality control wasn’t paying attention. I’m not at all unhappy and can live with a handicapped soup bowl, being handicapped myself. But this bowl far outclasses its quality control department and that’s a shame because it might deter future buyers from buying. This is a wonderful little product! ... show more

    • A "Game Changer"
Bought 3 of these for my family... then my niece learned that she could microwave ramen ('that changed my WORLD' she said)... so I got her one... she loves it! Got one for my sister as well. Has a water fill mark on the inside so you know how much water to add. 4 minutes in the microwave on high and voilla! Ramen! Add a raw egg immediately after cooking for restaurant-style ramen. Add vegetables, meat, spices (siracha is AMAZING on Ramen) to add some texture (and protein). Momofuku Ando would be quite pleased with this product - making his ramen even more accessible to the masses. Anyway, can't say enough good things about this product. They're sturdy and hold up in the near-constant microwave-to-dishwasher-to-microwave cycle my 7 kids put these through! Great as a quick (and inexpensive) gift to a loved one. These should be in every home! Sep, 2022: bought one of these for a 65-year-old friend of mine ... he ALSO didn't know that you could microwave ramen?! What in the WORLD! It seems like nobody knows how easy it is to microwave Ramen... 3 minutes and you're DONE! Anyway, I hate to belabor the point, but if you know anyone who loves ramen - get them one of these... they work great, are very durable (we've had ours for YEARS - and we have kids who LOVE ramen and would eat it 3x a day if we let them... we don't), and it's so much easier than using a pan to heat water (and the house) and THEN dump in the noodles... and THEN cleanup afterwards. These ramen cookers take away all that work... unwrap the ramen (careful to not spill the broken noodle bits on the floor or counter... I just pull out the ramen "brick" and the flavor packet and then immediately toss the package so that the noodle bits are out of the way immediately), then I put the noodle brick in the ramen cooker, add the water and heat for 3 minutes on high in the microwave, I will then stir in a raw egg (I like this - not everyone does... so your mileage may vary), then stir in the flavor packet and BOOM! The Ramen is done in 4 minutes from start to finish with no mess (provided you remember to immediately throw away the empty flavor packet and don't spill it all over the place as you're opening it and adding it to the noodles). You can eat directly from the ramen cooker (like a plastic bowl) but unless you live alone, it's probably not recommended. Especially at my house where ONE batch of ramen immediately sets off a maelstrom of requests for ramen... so ALL of the kids queue up to cook ramen. We have THREE ramen cookers - but some days that's still not enough (we have 8 children still at home). Momofuku Ando is a hero at our house (he's the inventor of ramen... he invented it after WWII to "solve world hunger"). I don't know if Momofuku succeeded in solving world hunger, but he DID solve hunger at my house. Also, his name is fun to say... "Momofuku"... it sounds both funny and naughty at the same time... what a great name! Anyway, I keep sending these ramen cookers to folks... they're SO handy and useful. AND it gives me an opportunity to talk about Momofuku - which is fun (to me... probably boring to everyone else) - but he's a hero of mine. Inventor. Humanitarian. Brought ramen to the masses. Has a name that's a LOT of fun to say "Momofuku". It almost sounds Polynesian... but it's not, it's Japanese. Anyway, these make a great cheap gift that you can randomly send (I've done it several times now) and it's ALWAYS well received! ... show more
