  • Great top coat over wraps
Recently discovered that I've developed an allergy to gel polish. Unfortunately that meant I needed a new top coat for the nail wraps I generally wear (Lilly & Fox), this was recommended, and so far I'm really happy with it! Is doesn't cause my wraps to shrink, dries quickly, nice clear shine, and seems to hold up as well as my gel did. I frequently can wear a set of wraps for 2 weeks, and this has help up right with them, no chipping. ... show more

  • GOAT of top coats
Best shiny fast dying top coat I have ever used. It’s long wear and I’m on my second bottle. Protects my nail polish so much longer as I can just keep applying it and my nail polish last that much longer and my nails stay stronger.

  • Rock Hard and Shiny
I want to address some of the negative reviews of CND top coat. First of all, I am a cosmetologist so I have a bit of knowledge about this product. We used it at my beauty school and it worked well so I purchased it for personal and professional applications. I have never had a problem with this polish. It works great and is hard to remove with regular polish remover. I recommend using straight acetone. Reviews saying it chipped, peeled, and/or didn't adhere must not have prepped their nails properly or applied it over a non CND polish. You can't mix and match brands when it comes to nail products and expect it to work properly. Nail products companies make their line of products to work within their own line. If you have had good results in mixing lines you've just had good luck. Don't mix brands if you want professional and lasting results. Yellowing = you probably touched something that caused the yellowing to occur. Exposing nails to certain foods or cleaning products will discolor your top coat. Some brands make stain resistant top coats, try that. One thing I like about CND is that you don't need a base coat. To properly paint a nail prep is really important but this is the process I was taught at my school: Push back the cuticle, remove dead tissue with a cuticle cutter, shape the nail edges, scuff the nail plate with a nail file, clean the nail plate with acetone or another nail surface prep (you need to remove all body oils and debris from the nail plate), let it dry, apply one coat of base coat (you get to skip this step with CND), apply 2 coats of color, and lastly apply top coat. Thin coats are better than thick coats. If color didn't cover well, apply up to three coats before top coat. You can also do more layers of top coat if needed. If you baby your nails it can last up to 7 days. If you cook, wash dishes, etc. you're only going to get about 2-3 days of wear. That is true with any line of acrylic polish. If you want your mani to last longer you have to go with professional gel polish. ... show more

  • Long wear shine, indeed. This stuff is great.
One of my small pleasures is using nail wraps. Because they're so inexpensive, I can change them once a week with no guilt, so I don't often use the Vinylux, because I don't need my nail wraps to last a long time. But this time, the nail wrap is so gorgeous with its swirls and stripes of glittery gold and copper on deep purple that I want to preserve it and use it a little longer. Several members of the Lily and Fox Facebook group recommended the Vinyllux, which is why I got it, and they; were right. It also seems to make my nails stronger. I probably shouldn't have, but I've been opening pistachio shells for two days now with no harm to my nails. Recommend! ... show more

  • Not shellac quality but a solid top coat
I painted my nails on a Wednesday night and it is now Friday night and this is how they still look. I did touch up a chip on my pinky mail. But I use my hands a lot so it’s not surprising - daily typing, weightlifting, doing the dishes, cooking, cleaning, etc. Uually they would be chipping by now and I’d have to take off my polish. I wouldn’t say it’s shellac quality that you would get at the nail salon, but it’s probably by far the best topcoat I’ve used at home! For $9 it’s worth it! ... show more

CND Top Coat Review Rating: ★★☆☆☆ As an avid nail enthusiast, I had high hopes for the CND Top Coat, expecting it to deliver the long-lasting, glossy finish it’s known for. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of these expectations. Performance: The primary issue with the CND Top Coat is its lack of adhesion. After carefully applying it over my manicure, I noticed that it simply didn’t stick to the nail surface properly. Within a day, the top coat began peeling off in large chunks, leaving my manicure vulnerable and chipped. This was particularly disappointing as I followed the application instructions meticulously, ensuring my nails were clean and dry. Durability: One of the top coat’s selling points is supposed to be its durability. However, due to the peeling issue, it failed to protect my manicure for more than a day. This contrasts sharply with other top coats I’ve used, which typically extend the life of my manicure by at least a week. Finish: When first applied, the CND Top Coat does provide a beautiful, glossy finish. However, this is short-lived due to the adhesion problem. The initial shine and smoothness are undermined by the quick deterioration. Application: Application-wise, the product goes on smoothly and dries relatively quickly. The brush is of good quality, allowing for even coverage. However, these positives are rendered moot by the product’s inability to stay on the nails. Conclusion: Overall, while the CND Top Coat has the potential to deliver a professional-looking finish, its major flaw in not adhering properly to the nails makes it a poor choice for anyone looking to extend the life of their manicure. There are many other top coats on the market that offer better durability and reliability. Sadly, I cannot recommend the CND Top Coat based on my experience. ... show more
