Good for going between joists but I would like one a bit larger with some overlap. This fits between joists and flooring standing flat with no overlap on the wood leaving it exposed to side flame and solder spatter. Putting in new pipes you should not have much but when removing old fittings you will always have spatter. I will be adding a larger as this does not protect anything around the sides that was my purpose for using a shield in the first place ... show more

This is not a commercial quality welding blanket. It is also pretty small so it can't protect a very large area. About the only thing I feel comfortable using this for is minor solder splatter. There are better alternatives available.

I solder for work and as a hobby. Always nice to have something to ensure no burns on the mat or anything around me. Not saying my worktable is cluttered, but... my work table is cluttered just a little. These are good and thick, haven't figured out how to damage one yet. Working on it.
