I like this coop heater. It’s the perfect size for a standard 5 hen chicken coop! Very easy to install and setup. The build quality is acceptable for the price point. The remote is nice but you need a direct line of sight to the heater. You can’t sit in the living room and use it like a remote car starter. You’ll still need to go out to the coop but, it saves from trying to crawl into the coop to adjust settings or toggle power. Unless you have a relatively small frame and can fit inside the coop, I suggest pre-mounting this in a piece of wood and then affixing that board to the coop. At least in my situation I found this significantly easier than attempting to contort myself doing it inside the coop. Overall it works well and gives pieces of mind that the chickens are comfortable on those cold winter nights! ... show more

My chickens do not get along so I have a couple coops for them to go into at night. I purchased a heater for my other coop last winter from a big box store. This time around, I decided to save about 20 bucks and buy this one. I’m happy to say that it is quite comparable to the other heater, but has the additional feature of being able to choose my temperature. It’s very safe and will turn itself off if tipped over. There is also the ability to override this feature if your situation calls for it, which is incredibly handy. I also don’t have any concerns about it catching fire like I would if I were using a heat lamp. Not sure I will use the remote, but it’s a cool feature that my more expensive heater did not have. ... show more

    • Won’t stay on for more than 30 minutes and power button doesn’t work.
The heater turns off by itself after a while, even though it hasn’t tipped over and hasn’t reached warmth in the chicken coop. It’s mounted to the wall and still turns off after 20-30 minutes in the cold. Also the power button on the unit doesn’t do anything even though the remote works just fine.     • Works Best in Small Spaces
It generates low heat dispersion that works best in small spaces. The remote works after the heater is plugged in and the switch on the cord is in the on position. It can turn the heater on and increase or decrease the temperature. The heater can also be turned on and the heat adjusted using the panel on the heater. I had trouble getting the remote to work right at first and thought it needed a new battery, but this was totally user error on my part. It is easy to install the stands, they just snap on with no tools needed. I am not doing the optional wall installation but screws and plastic wall anchors are included. I don’t think it generates enough heat for the area I intended it for, so am going to use it to keep my bunny cage warmer. That room gets colder than the rest of our house and she can’t have a bed because she eats them. Also, because bunnies eat cords I will have the heater and cord just outside the cage. I think that on a lower setting this will work well there. ... show more

This heater is so easy to setup, and it gives off a good amount of heat! I live in MI where the winter season is very snowy and cold. I really want to give my girls a little bit of comfort during these freezing months. I was a little nervous about putting a heating light in my coop in case of a fire hazard; I really appreciate this safer option! ... show more

good heating element just make sure it is vertical : I was about to return this unit due to it not turning on! Then i remembered reading “trip safe” and held it vertical and pushed to turn on. Instructions should start with “put it vertical” then “push the pwr btn” ;) it heats up well, appears to be safe and the switch does not have an on/off label so you got 50% chance :) I used a cable ac detector to find out which way it is on since i spent some time trying to turn it on flat 🙈 ... show more
