  • Very good and incredible for the price! Just one glaring flaw...
This is almost perfect. Almost. Range is amazing. Latency is great. Features are super! This would honestly have a perfect score if it had a couple things. The controller does not have a battery gauge. The focus gear simply stops responding. Display reads out that it is still connected and everything is fine, aside from the fact that it no longer operates. But that’s not all. It can lose calibration which results in the exact same results. So you end up trying to calibrate it again which works half the time. The other half you need to replace the battery. If there was a battery gauge, a cursory glance would save you tons of time troubleshooting while people wait for you to get the camera working again. ... show more

  • The microUSB slot broke and I had to return.
I really like this - it worked really well for a month. The real issue is that the motor that turns the lens needs to be powered by USB. They use microUSB which is very fragile and mine was no exception. The device stopped being powered unless I pressed very hard against the cable. Then the MicroUSB slot fell into the motor and the device was broken. I was able to get my money back, but I have debated buying another one, and I don't think I will unless they had a USB C method or something else that doesn't feel so fragile. Also the batteries that are included for the remote are proprietary and the charger is this weird USB magnet system. A prime example of "you get what you pay for" - I think i'll invest in a higher quality system instead. ... show more

  • Nice looking product but has issues
When I received this item I was really impressed with the quality of materials and construction - looks great! On a new 135mm lens the motor was almost incapable of turning the focus; I'd say only useful for systems that are really easy to turn. Most annoying thing was the incredibly vague and inaccurate instructions. I had to guess the operation as the instructions didn't work. Example, instructions say up/down buttons change channel - they do if you double press I found out through trial. But then you're supposed to double press to manually enter a focus range. Nope - just changes channel. It's gone back. ... show more

  • Doesn’t belong on a professional set. Tilta doesn’t belong in this industry.
Highly disappointed in Tilta. Tilta is trying to break into the industry and trust me they do not belong here. The good companies in the industry make things right and you can trust them they work hard and truly care about their product. Red, Matthews, ARRI, Aputure, all want to make a good impression. When things go wrong they make it right. TILTA says “BEST OF LUCK! Sorry about your garbage Nano Focus”. First off as you can see the wood came to me cracked. Which will only get worse with time. Had a shoot couldn’t sweat the little things. Had to go do my job. Titla stick with the backyard shooters and you tubers. Leave the real production to the real, honest, and trustworthy companies. They will never make it right. This product is Not for a professional environment at all. My first really big paying gig for a director and streaming network I can’t divulge and I’m totally embarrassed. And lost my job. Thanks Tilta. I opened the box read the instructions and installed it on my rig. Worked fine At first. calibrated. All was fine. However! I didn’t put it into the mount they provided till I got on set. So I Shut off went to set and slide it into Tiltas mount and BAM! total embarrassment. It stops, it stutters, jerks, Couldn’t focus at all. If I take it out of the mount it works fine but we had no focus pullers on this particular scene. I put all my faith in this product. Didn’t bring a manual focus because well I carry enough crap to set and I figured everyone raves about this thing and it won’t let me down. Well it sure did. At some point I promise you this thing will let you down. Give it time. Luckily for Tilta most people won’t update their experiences. If I could give it zero stars I would. Not deserving of - star. I’m willing to bet dollars they won’t make it right. So I’m stuck with a very over glorified hunk of... ... show more

  • Amazing value and more torque than you'd think.
The GOOD: Extremely light. Powered by small USB battery. Simple setup for cine lenses and hard-lock focus lenses The BAD: (not actually all that bad) The battery charger is ridiculous, and older versions had a + and - with a warning to not reverse them. Newer versions don't have a + and - and it freaked me out for a while since the instructions still say + and -. When the battery is very low, the unit freaks out. It wouldn't even power off for me and I had to eject the battery to turn it off. The screen is tiny and there's a lot of information crammed into an impossibly small space. Pretty difficult to see everything. The AWESOME: The price is amazing for what you're getting. The torque is much better than expected. I have not had a lens yet that it couldn't function with. I've even used it to work the zoom ring on an Olympus 14-40mm. The Nucleus nano components are compatible and works with all of the controllers, handles and larger motors from the Nucleus M system. So for me, I needed a "starter" kit. And when I need something bigger or want to control it with my shoulder rig, I can just get a handle and it'll just work. For anyone working on a gimbal, this is a must. For anyone needing focus control away from the camera, this is a must. And for the price, this is a no-brainer. ... show more

  • Defective out of the Bag
I have no idea what's going on. I purchased this over a month ago and just now got around to putting it to use. Right out of the bag had nothing but calibration problems, to the point where the unit wasn't calibrating at all, then it completely stopped working, no power to the wheel. I've tried all my batteries and no luck. I've contacted Tilta to see what they can do because I've missed my window of returning to Amazon. I've got a nice $230 paper weight now. ... show more

  • EXCELLENT Manual Focus Device!
If you are a film maker from pro to beginner than do yourself a favor and get this thing. The best feature is the A and B set points at the push of a button. OMG! I would do a video on this but there are so many out there. Its excellent! I will I had another one for the aperture. However, this is an expensive device but well worth it. ... show more
