  • Indeed No Vignetting On My 16mm Wide Angle Lens!
I popped this bad boy on my camera as soon as it arrived! It’s a decent build for the price. Works perfectly on my Sony Fx6 and wide angle Sony 16-35MM F/4 ZA OSS Zeiss lens with no vignetting! If you have this lens don’t worry it %100 has no vignetting. I can’t speak for other lenses but this one is a go! ... show more

  • Great matte box
Amazing product from SmallRig as usual. Very easy to use and setup. Carbon fiber cover, multiple sizes of lens adapters. It can be used with either square ND filters or round. Also comes with a cloth carrying case. Very light even with a 4" filter installed. Don't hesitate if you are looking for a good matte box. Best bang for your buck for making a small camera rig. ... show more

  • What are you waiting for!
Buy it! This is really a dream come true being able to use my spherical variable ND filters in this matte box! It’s very light. Built very well. NOTE: if you have a VND that has a “putter”, it won’t work. There’s not enough room. Well, at least when going to 82mm. I wouldn’t count on it unless you have seen it will fit. The “putter” on some variable ND filters is basically a a stem that protrudes for easier adjustment. Great Quality as expected from SmallRig! I’m using it on a LUMIX S5. Right now, I have a Sigma 35mm dgdn f1.4 on it. Which has a 67mm front thread. So I’m using the 67mm to 95 ring that comes with the mattebox. From there, I bought a 67mm to 82mm step up ring for the front. I then use my 82mm ND variable filter. Again, a dream come true. I will buy more of these for my other rigs! Did I mention it looks classy! Love it! ... show more

  • Great Customer Service
Edit: Small rig made it alright with their epic customer service. With 24 hours of the review being posted they reached out to make it right. A lot of products are good but the customer service is trash, it inspires great faith in both smallrig and all of the products I use in on my camera rigs. While I had some issues with the first matte box i bought from small rig I am happy to say my replacement works amazing and screws on smooth like butter Honestly disappointed in small rig. I used a lot of their stuff on my rigs and this one has been the most frustrating product that almost costed be a lens. The matte box is great but the adapter rings are the problem, from the beginning they really didn’t screw on to my lens well and they would screech when screwing them on. The worst part was how tight they were to get off, it was always scary to say the least when I left them on for a little while and then had to spend 10minutes trying to unscrew the ring. Yesterday my fears became a reality when not only did my vnd filter fused onto the adapter ring but also the adapter ring fused to my lens (Sony 24-70 gm). I had to grind and break the ring to get it off my lens and both damaged my lens and my filter in the process. Before going to these extreme measures I tried filter wrenches but not even those could save it. Unfortunately this nearly costed me a $1700 lens and did cost me a $300 filter ... show more

  • Great product. Just wish they had instructions and more help ordering the right thing.
I love SmallRig products. My whole rig for my BMPCC 6K is SmallRig products. They are super well crafted and super thoughtfully designed for the needs of filmmaking. They're affordable, too, which is important for those of us doing this for mostly hobby work. This matte box is superb. It's light but pretty durable with nice hefty hardware. Does exactly what it says it should. My one problem, and this is a general one for all of SmallRig's gear, is that absolutely no instructions come with any of their products, and very few even have so much as an explainer video on YouTube about how to set things up. And the descriptions on their website and Amazon are usually pretty bare bones, with little help in knowing what will and won't fit on the particular rig you have. Because of that, I'm constantly having to send items back, order new items compatible with my particular rig, and then waiting while all those false starts happen. I think the company just assumes you're an industry professional who just magically knows to check, for example, your lens diameter (the ones that come with the matte box don't fit my smaller photo lenses; I think they assume you've got cine lenses for this) or that the cage for the battery pack and BMPCC isn't compatible with a normal baseplate, etc. I know there are a lot of different cameras they're trying to fit things to, but giving some better direction would save me having to get frustrated about how to order parts, connect things, and operate the gear. If that were to change, this would easily be a 5-star review. ... show more

  • Looks cool and gets the job done!
I recently purchased this matte box for my A7III honestly just to up the look at "production value" of my sony a7iii rig and I've been really impressed with it. It's well-constructed and feels very sturdy and it does a great job at blocking out unwanted light and creating a professional look for my videos. I love the thumb screws as it makes adjustments so fast and easy. Love that I can also keep the door closed and protect the lens when I'm transporting the camera rig. Would definitely buy again when I start building out my next rig ... show more

  • Just adds a nice look to the camera setup and works.
Totally feel so much more professional with one of these on even when i dont need it. This one is light weight doesnt have the barn doors but gets the job done blocking out the harsh light from the sun.

  • High quality
You are not beating this whole setup from small rig for the price believe it or not, you get quality at a middle range price, not cheap but you don’t get a cheap product either
