The Tiger JBV-A18U Micom multi-functional rice cooker allows you to prepare two dishes simultaneously with Tiger's innovative tacook synchronized cooking function. This Tiger rice cooker advanced cooking system features a unique tacook BPA-Free cooking tray that can be used to cook vegetables or proteins while also cooking the rice. With minimal preparation and the press of a button, Tiger's Automatic Cooking Logic rice cooker system actively monitors cooking temperatures to create the perfect meal. Unlike other rice cookers, Tiger's tacook cooking tray is specially designed so the flavors from the cooking plate do not affect the flavor or texture of the rice. The JBV-A10U Tiger rice cooker can cook up to 10 cups of dried rice at a time. We have had this for 5 years now. It’s a real workhorse. We use it several times a week for white and brown rice. We have not used the other cooking functions. I appreciate the no frills controls. Rice turns out perfectly every time. Easy to clean.

So this is a quality rice cooker from one of the top rice cooker brands. I did a lot of research on what rice cooker to buy and I'd say this is the best rice cooker for the price. I love that it's basic; no extra screens, settings, etc to fuss with or to break. It's super easy to use and then clean afterwards. One thing I also looked into before buying this is the feasibility to order replacement parts if and when something wears out say the cooker's pot. Not a problem, Tiger has a parts store online that you can order replacement parts as needed. The only thing I was surprised was that this cooker was made in China. I thought it would have been made in Japan. Nonetheless, it seems to till be the Tiger quality even with the outsourcing. ... show more

    • A Nice and Simple Machine for a Great Price- Would Buy Again

This does exactly what you expect and need from a rice cooker without all the bells and whistles of the more expensive models, making it super easy to use. It cooks rice perfectly every time, only takes about 20 minutes, and stays nice and warm without causing the rice on the bottom to become sticky. The steamer basket works great and really does keep the rice from tasting of the food you put in it. I've done onions, garlic, and peppers in it with the rice, and none of the flavors transferred which is great when you want to use the rice for more than one meal. The capacity is perfect, easily serving a family gathering while still allowing you to make a small enough portion for one without overwhelming you with leftovers. Its easy to clean with a solid non-stick interior. I haven't had it long enough to speak to its long term durability, but after the first month of regular use it still looks and functions like day 1. There are a couple of things that could be better with this unit, but nothing that bothers me at this price point. There is no sound or timer to indicate that cooking has completed or how long it has left, only a change in the indicator lights when it finishes cooking and when the keep warm function turns off. And the only other thing is that it is too light weight for the strength with which the top opens when you push the button, meaning if the cooker is nearing empty the machine rocks back when you open it. I just remember to catch it before the lid opens completely to kill the momentum when I know its going to rock. ... show more
