  • Works well with Alexa when setup properly
Style: Motion Sensor
I wanted a better solution for motion activation than the one built into my Echos (Dot and 4th gen Echo). They work but only every half hour or so which is a drag. This product detects and sets motion every time, thus turning on (and off) a light switch I wanted to control through Alexa. There are some caveats. First, you must have a supported Echo with a built-in hub this device works with. The product page does show this correctly. Doesn’t work with Echo Dots, does work with the larger Echo (mine being 4th Gen). Next, forget the instructions that come with the unit where you are told you need to download the host application. It doesn't work, doesn't see or detect the Echo. Big waste of time. Just place the batteries in the unit and hit the tiny button inside to start paring. Then ask Alexa to detect devices. That's all it took for me. Then place the unit where you desire and setup a routine for a smart light, works every time. For the price, this unit can't be beat. ... show more

  • usable motion sensor
Style: Motion Sensor
This sensor works OK. The unit must be oriented vertically for it to provide optimal coverage. It does have a cooldown period after each motion even, I think it's about 1minute, but could be a little longer and within smartthings ecosystem there doesn't appear to be any way to change the sleep time. It's nice that it uses AAA batteries and they have lasted quite some duration, > 1yr in my experience. ... show more

  • I've installed five of these. Easily pairs on HomeAssistant and Hubitat
Style: Motion Sensor
As in the title, I've installed four of these and they work great. They're mainly set up to turn on lights for a few minutes when I walk into a room. Pros * Uses regular AAA batteries and last for months * integrates easily on HomeAssistant and Hubitat Cons: * This effects all PIR sensors, they're just not magic, but do well in most settings like the front and rear doors ... show more

  • Fantastic for the price and pairs well with SmartThings.
Style: Motion Sensor 2 pack
Price is amazing and works great with smartthings even the newer version without need for a new edge driver. Battery life is awesome and functions well at good range. Very small which I like so it doesn't look horrible on walls for automatic lights, etc.

Style: Motion Sensor 4 pack
The THIRDREALITY Zigbee Motion Sensor 4 Pack is a set of four motion sensors that use Zigbee technology to communicate with a compatible hub. The sensors are pet-friendly, which means that they are designed to ignore small animals and prevent false alarms. The sensors are compatible with a range of popular home automation platforms, including Home Assistant, SmartThings, Aeotec, Hubitat, and Echo devices with built-in Zigbee hub. One of the main benefits of these sensors is their ease of use and compatibility with a wide range of platforms. They are easy to install and set up, and they can be integrated into an existing smart home ecosystem with minimal effort. Additionally, the pet-friendly design is a nice touch that can prevent unnecessary alerts and make the sensors more practical for pet owners. However, those reasons explained above where non existen for me. Firstly, the sensors are prone to false alarms, even with the pet-friendly design. This can be frustrating and lead to unnecessary alerts that can quickly become a nuisance. Secondly, the sensors are not very durable and may stop working at any time (I’ve had it for a few days and constantly they decide not to work) Lastly, the sensors can be difficult to pair with some hubs, requiring manual intervention and technical knowledge that may be beyond the average user's abilities. In conclusion, the THIRDREALITY Zigbee Motion Sensor 4 Pack is a useful accessory for a smart home that can help enhance security and convenience. However, issues with false alarms, durability, and compatibility has been scratching my head on why I decided to purchase them. Please consider reading the reviews and you’ll see that several negative reviews are similar on why people return them. ... show more

  • GREAT NO-FRILLS SENSOR- 35 second recovery time!
Style: Motion Sensor
UPDATED BELOW I picked this up for $15.99 and so far so good. The sensor is about as small as it could possibly be and still fit two AAA batteries inside. It paired right away via Zigbee with my Hubitat C-5 hub and no other configuration was required (but see the little quirk below in the update). It does not have a tamper sensor. The only data returned by the sensor are motion and battery level. The coverage area is nice and wide and I was pleased to discover that the motion sensing recovery time is only about 35 seconds. Why does this matter? I currently have six Bosch motion/temp sensors in various places and one of them is right outside my front door. I happened to get those on some sort of weird flash sale for $30 each where they were normally about $90. For $30 they are just fine, but they are large, take 4AA batteries, and most significantly have a MINIMUM three-minute recovery time in between motion sensing events. I use one of the Bosch sensors to alert me when one of my two dogs has returned from whatever adventures they were having outside. They tend to do their own thing and one of them almost always comes back before the other one. If they return more than three minutes apart then it's not problem and I get two separate alerts for the two different dogs and can open the door twice. But if the second dog comes back during the three-minute window right after the first, the Bosch motion sensor won't pick up the new motion alert and the second dog will be forced to wait outside with no recognition from his owner. No big deal right? He just has to wait another three minutes. Well, no. If you are within the three-minute recovery period and the sensor is tripped again, it starts a NEW three-minute recovery period. Assuming the dog doesn't freeze to death and keeps moving at some point during that three-minute period, the sensor will just keep re-tripping and going into an endless loop of three-minute recovery periods until the dog finally freezes or dehydrates. Thus the dilemma. With the 35-second recovery period of this sensor, I have now reduced the potential mortality rate of my second dog to return home by a factor of five. Good progress. UPDATE: The first sensor continues to work great a month later. I bought two more via the two-pack deal. The first one paired up instantly with zero issues. The second one paired up fine but came up as (blank) for the device type (Hubitat C-5 hub) and very strangely showed "Signify NV" as the manufacturer instead of ThirdReality. I tried changing the device type manually to "Generic Zigbee motion sensor- no temp," which is what the other two sensors automatically configured as. The sensor would show up as a device in my Hubitat device list but would not report any data. I removed it, did a factory reset, re-added, repeated, and still had the same problem. Posted a question here to see if there was a firmware update. Before I gave up, I tried one last thing that I had zero expectation of working. I removed the device again from Hubitat, held down the reset button and did a factory reset, and then took the batteries out. While holding down the reset button, I put the batteries back in and did one more reset. I have no idea why or how, but this somehow fixed the issue. The sensor paired up no problem with Hubitat, configured as "Generic Zigbee motion sensor- no temp" and properly showed "ThirdReality" as the manufacturer. From there on out the sensor worked just fine. I can't explain it but if you have the same weird problem I did, try doing a couple factory resets and holding down the button while taking the batteries out and then putting them back in. LOL the mysteries of the universe. ... show more
