  • Versatile. Decent signal.
Color: Opal
Have used this as an access point (Ethernet in, WiFi / Ethernet out) and an extender (WiFi in, WiFi / Ethernet out). Haven't tested as a router. I needed a portable, temporary AP for use across the ranch during filming. Has worked for years under hot and cold, dusty conditions and continues to serve in that setting. Interface is surprisingly feature rich with a few sophisticated options found on advanced routers / firewalls. Factory reset ritual is a bit slow. The default dot-8 subnet is also silly. But these are easy to manage. It's a powerful little portable. ... show more

  • Perfect and easy
Color: Opal
My work from home job is for a "super secure" company that demands ethernet connections. I wanted to join family on vacay so I bought this baby and took my laptop on vacay! Worked flawlessly within 10 mins of setup. Of course, by the time work asked me about my location, I was back at home. Awesome for legit and secure connections, esp at hotels to avoid public wifi or connections via erhernet. I used both the hotel public wifi and my mobile Hotspot to connect to work. Both I couldn't do previously. Also a great backup for home use, in case your internet goes down, you can still work from home. When WFH, you need a backup plan, 2 or 3 :) ... show more

  • Simple, fast, cheap, slightly inflexible.
Color: Opal
This is advertised as a portable privacy focused router. It comes with a heavily customized openWRT interface, but under the hood it's just pretty standard openWRT. It has features to turn on and off privacy features such as TOR with a physical switch on the side. I think if you bought with its intended use case in mind it would work pretty well. I didn't get it to be a portable router, instead I want it to live on top of a book shelf and act as a wireless access point. The simple interface does have a button that sets the router up for this purpose, but not much else in the way of access point configuration. There is the option to install Luci (the standard openWRT interface), but I found the co-existence of two interfaces for editing the configuration files to be a little bit confusing and a tad disconcerting; who's really calling the shots here? I ended up ssh-ing into the router and setting things up from there, which worked out fine. So I think its a great idea for a router, but I think it falls a little short in the execution of its user interface. ... show more

  • Works exactly as intended.
Color: Opal
Small and portable. Relatively easy setup. Does exactly what it’s supposed to do. We got it for a month long AirBnB stay so we plugged it directly into the router rather than using the wireless link.

  • Fixes two Sonos problems!!
Color: Opal
It's great for its main thing, taking a wifi signal and creating its own network. It's like a wired to the modem router, but wireless. Things in its network can be wired or wireless. It's good at picking up a wifi signal, better than any modern no-antenna device, but not quite as good as some repeaters I've tried. Best part: it fixes my SONOS problem!! I use it in repeater mode, and it acts as a wired-wireless bridge to my current network, so I can wire up my 3 Sonos speakers that are in a signal-blocking room. The sonos aren't great at picking up signal, and aren't great at switching between signals, so using a range extender doesn't work as a mesh because the mesh AP is slower when the router AP is available but the router goes in and out and it doesn't switch back! They also won't stay on the extender signal if used as different SSID, even if that's the only network I set them up on because my other sonos have to be on another SSID and it doesn't like that. So now, this device, used in repeater mode, I can wire the sonos and the ethernet acts as though it's wired to the router! I just bought another one so I can use it for its main intended purpose: a network from a wifi, which I am pretty sure will also solve my Sonos Roam problem that they can't do stereo mode in a hotel because they can't connect to wifi that uses browser-based security. Only thing: to use as a bridge to 3 ethernet devices, you have to change the WAN to LAN before changing to repeater mode because you can't use the UI after choosing repeater mode. Then it's hard to change back. But instead of changing for other purposes, I'm buying another because it's reasonably priced!! Thank you for the awesome product that's the answer to so many hours of internet searching and not finding. ... show more

  • Works Very well for the price
Color: Opal
For what I paid, this device is very useful and works very well. It has the ability to connect to the internet via WiFi, ethernet, or even by plugging in your phone via the USB port. There is a physical VPN switch that you can map it to toggle many thing son and off via the web interface, which is really good for the times I do not need a VPN connection. I've used this device on a plane and on a cruise to hook up many of my devices to the paid wifi through the router instead of having to pay 5x for 5 devices. Thats a really good bonus! Connected to my Wireguard server, I get around 30mb/s download and 30 mb/s upload. Its not the fastest, but considering my use cases of casual web browsing and some light workloads, this works well for me. ... show more

  • Worked before reset button stopped working
Color: Opal
The product was bought 13 months ago. It wss used as a travel router. It suddenly stopprd working. Since it was out of warranty, I contacted product support via email (only option) . I went back and forth before I was able to make it work. However, since I had to connect to another wifi, reset was required. The reset button stopped working and display stayed on fully lit. Seems like the reset butyon is quite fragile. Unfortunately, can’t connect it to any wifi any more. ... show more
