    • Affordable cutting mat with large work areae

I had a much skinnier cutting mat I've used for several years but decided to look for a replacement with a larger surface area. This mat is great, and cost wise is a fabulous purchase (compare the price at my favorite fabric store and it isn't even close). If you're still cutting out patterns and fabric with scissors this has a low enough price point that you can test out the waters for rotary cutting for a modest outlay. You'll need of course a rotary cutting wheel. My only suggestion (across the board) would be for cutting mats to come with some kind of overlay guide -- it can be tricky to keep a cut on a straight line when your material covers the lines. I haven't figured out a good solution for this yet other than to back my material off several inches so that I can see a few inches of the cutting mat and "try" to roll my rotary cutter straight. (But maybe that's just me - I don't have the best of super fine motor skills which is one reason why using a rotary cutter turns out so much better than scissors). ... show more

I have a OLFA size A3 mat and needed a larger size. This product is nice, thick, durable, and works well with rotary cutter. My A3 is not as thick in comparison. The price for this mat is more economical compared to others at fabric stores, even if they have it on sale. I like the double-sided printing with easy to read scale markings. Just what I needed to protect my desk while working on craft projects. Nice and dense feeling against xacto knife blades. The grid patter is nice. I think one side supposed to have guide lines for sewing. I think this pad might be a little small for that. Super happy eith ir. I'm giving five stars because it's a beautiful product that is everything it says it is. I am only returning it because I need it to draft (and cut) my own patterns and the white on green isn't contrasting enough for me to see the grid through either newspaper-weight paper or gift-wrapping paper. Instead, I will purchase one with much more contrast (hoping to find black on white). If you don't need to see the grid THROUGH your material(s), though, I highly recommend this product. ... show more

I love this little mat for cutting cardstock designs with a blade knife. It's really thick but bendable too. It's small but that's all I wanted. Love the color. It gets 1 less star because it stinks. Literally. I left it sit out for a week and still I smell it when I go into the craft area. The smell is like vinyl which is normal but it also smells like Vegetable Beef Soup!!! Ugh. That is a great dinner smell but not on a cutting mat. I may replace it just for this reason if the smell doesn't calm down soon. If odors don't bother you - which is most people as I'm sensitive to smells, lucky me - then this is a great cutting mat. ... show more

This mat is working well for cutting with a rotary cutter. The material does not slid around on the mat and the mat stays in place. I found that it is heavier than it looks but that's probably why it stays in place. If I ever get another one I will buy a bigger size. But for now and for my sporatic sewing this one is working fine. ... show more
