Description

USA TODAY BESTSELLERFrom the star of Magnolia Network’s popular show Ranch to Table—a stunningly beautiful cookbook celebrating a year on a ranch on the California coast, featuring simple yet festive recipes, inspiring menus, and fascinating culture and history.Elizabeth Poett was raised on Rancho San Julian, a 14,000-acre ranch on Santa Barbara’s Central Coast that her family has been working since 1837. Her years are structured around the land’s natural rhythms and annual events: celebrations big and small, harvests, and work days that bring her family and community together—and always end with large meals for everyone to share. Elizabeth feeds her friends and family with seasonal ingredients—including vegetables and meat grown and raised on the ranch and fish from California’s Central Coast—barbecuing tri-tips, turning local cod into tacos, and using heirloom tomatoes and summery eggplant into delicious, family friendly pastas.Much like Elizabeth’s life, The Ranch Table is also organized around the work and celebrations that take place on the San Julian throughout the year, giving readers and cooks a chance to dive into the ranch’s most important workdays, family traditions big and small, and annual celebrations. Each chapter begins with a description of an event or a special day—the work of a branding, the joys of the annual family reunion, the fun of a fall cider press, the quiet beauty of a winter evening spent at the kitchen table—and invites you to join in on the day with both beautiful photos of the ranch today and archival images of its past. In each chapter, Elizabeth also shares the recipes for the dishes she makes for these occasions, including:Spring, Branding DayPistachio Breakfast BreadOnion-Braised Brisket SlidersFudgy Caramel Brownies Summer, Fiesta Family ReunionBeef Empanadas Blackberry Margaritas Fall, Cider Press PotluckTurkey Barley Soup Spiced Honey Apple Pie with a Ginger Crust Winter, New Year’s EveChanterelles with ToastStanding Rib RoastGreen Salad with Winter Fruit and Citrus DressingThe Ranch Table is an invitation to explore a unique California way of life and enjoy delicious, hearty, seasonal meals, made to be enjoyed with family and friends. • The vivid storytelling and stunning visuals make this cookbook a joy to read.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "The Ranch Table cooking book by Elizabeth Poett is an absolute gem for anyone passionate about cooking and savoring the flavors of the American West. The book beautifully captures the essence of ranch life and brings it straight to our kitchens. From elegant, yet approachable desserts to a delightful exploration of the Spanish influence, every recipe is a delightful journey in itself. As a Hispanic, the generational influence of family cooking holds a special place in my heart, and I found it resonating throughout the book. The vivid storytelling and stunning visuals make this cookbook a joy to read, not just for its recipes, but also for the immersive experience it offers. Each dish feels like a love letter to the land and the traditions that inspire it. I especially appreciate the thoughtful selection of recipes from the show, leaving us fans wanting more. Kudos to Poett for creating a culinary masterpiece that truly deserves a spot on every kitchen shelf!" 🌾🍴📚 ... show more

  • Love her and this cookbook
Great recipes that we will actually try at home. Not hard to follow her directions compared to the other TV lady in Texas. And the book fits nicely in my wood book stand on my kitchen counter.

  • Great book, bad condition.2
Last night I made the Caesar salad. I omitted the anchovies due to allergies; I adjusted the seasonings slightly; used a little less garlic. I made the crotons per recipe, but used ciabatta bread because that’s all I had on hand. They needed less time in the oven and a bit less oil. Overall OUSTANDING! I will make it again. So far so good! ... show more

  • Incredible pancakes! Can’t wait to try more recipes
The book arrived yesterday and I tried the pancakes today. Among the top 2 or 3 pancake recipes I’ve ever had!! I can’t wait to try more recipes this weekend. Great stories and illustrations. The food photos are occasionally too up close; and the very close up pictures of the author in a bunch of fake poses shot just for the book seem too abundant and out of place (not the archival family photos which are lovely). Personally I would like to have seen more ranch photos (as in the TV show) as well. But if all the recipes are as good as this first one then this book will become a well used favorite. ... show more
