  • Funko delivering quality again
Funko never fails to deliver high quality board games. This expansion is awesome. Love the base game and love that this adds the iconic attic leading to the entrance tile.

  • More like a table top RPG than a board game
This plays closer to a table top RPG (e.g. dungeons and dragons) than a standard board game. Summary: If you're looking for a quick and easy game like monopoly or candy land, this game is not it. If you're looking for more of a long-form game, or an introduction into table top RPGs this might be for you. It's a great introduction to TTRPGs, especially if you're trying to get a friend into them who happens to like the goonies. It's fun for TTRPG fans, and even my girlfriend with a "max 5 rules per game" rule enjoyed it. We've only played two of the scenarios, but there are several in the book. You have a GM who controls the bad guys and events that happen on the board. The other players control the various Goonies, trying to escape the fratellis. There are like 9 scenarios/adventures in the core book. The first 3 basically replay the movie. The rest expand on the story and lore. Unlike a regular RPG, there's a board with tokens and cards that define actions and special skills. Unlike a regular boardgame, it's rather free form and the GM's job is to tell the story and make the game exciting for the players. You roll dice for skill checks and battles with enemies rather than just for movement. Each goonie has their own stats. When you're done with the prewritten scenarios, the GM is able to use the game mechanics to create their own adventures, so while there might not be replay value, it does foster creativity. I like to think of it as a gateway rpg. ... show more

  • Great Game.. once you figure it out
This is a great treat for any Goonies fan. However, if you are not familiar with rpg type games, you might find this game overwhelming at first. Definitely watch the YouTube video on how to play. We really liked it!

  • This is an RPG not a Board Game
Most people seem to be reviewing this as a board game and it is more so an RPG. I see a lot of people claiming kids could not learn this or wouldnt want to but when i was 10 I learned 2nd edition Dungeons and Dragons with some help so I am guessing a Kid could learn this. It will take time to because it is an ROLE PLAYING GAME. That is the nature of these games. If you don't want and RPG you are going to have a bad time. RPGs take lots of preparation to play offer taking a few hours to review the story and rules to play. Then play takes as long as the story takes. This should only be purchased by those wanting to play an RPG of the game and pretend to be the goonies. Not for someone who wants to play a game the same night they opened it. ... show more
