  • Great KA Stand Mixer Cookbook, Especially for New Users
Besides the Instructions and Recipes book that comes with the unit, I have purchased this book on sale: The Complete KitchenAid Stand Mixer Cookbook (2012) (100+ recipes with photos and attachment icons at the top of each recipe; mixer speeds are also mentioned in the steps). Both books are good additions to new KitchenAid stand mixer buyers and tell us how to use our mixers to prepare food. After using both books, buyers will feel comfortable enough to veer out and be able to convert their own favorite recipes to those being used with their KA stand mixers. The Martha Bakes series on PBS, with videos accessible online, are also a very good source of watching KA stand mixers at work. I would recommend that all users watch these videos before they start using the recipe book(s). ... show more

  • I was disappointed with the wire- bound pamphlet that comes with this ...
As a new owner of an Artisan Kitchen aid stand mixer, I wanted more info on how to use my new "toy". I was in search of a book that would help me utilize this tool to its full potential. I was disappointed with the wire- bound pamphlet that comes with this mixer. I mean really, if you're spending upwards of $300, you'd think they would put more than a "flyer" in with the thing. I had a bowl and attachments, but no idea when to use each attachment, and if there were special recipes that called for them. I also wanted a book that would tell me which speed to use for recipes. Well, search no longer! This is the book that will do that for you. I loved the following things about this book: 1. Great recipes, for all palates. There are even vegetarian recipes. Sorry, doesn't appear to be anything for Vegan or gluten-free in there though. 2. Most recipes have icons to let you know which attachments are required to make them- its like kitchen aid for dummies and its foolproof. 3.The beginning of the book shows all available attachments (made at the time the book was published), and explains what each is best used for. 4. Gives you menu ideas- for example you might try making the pancakes and it gives you additional recipes for fresh juice drink, breakfast sausage, and a quiche to accompany it. Yes, I'm not naive enough to realize that this is marketing 101 to pique your interest and possibly purchase the other attachments, but I still liked the idea. 5. Some recipes will tell you the speed setting and for how long (mostly the baking/dessert recipes) 6. The index goes a step further and breaks down each attachment, then has all the recipes that are used by that attachment. Brilliant idea, for those that want to just focus on the attachments that came with the stand mixer. As a cookbook aficionado, there's nothing worse than getting attached to a recipe, then finding you don't have the unique ingredients or a special tool to make it all happen. If that's you, then focus on the recipes that work with the attachments you have. It might also get you to try something you might not normally have ventured out to try to make. 7. Some recipes have additional tips in preparing it. For example, it might be better to prepare a full recipe and freeze the other half for another recipe, or how long something can be refrigerated or frozen once it's made. All things I feels the avid cook would like and need to know. The only reason it didn't give it 5-stars is because I wanted speeds for every recipe. Silly, but it didn't exceed my expectations. If you're gifting someone a mixer this Holiday season, or you know someone who is receiving one, get them this book. They'll love you for it! ... show more

  • Excellent. Then
Absolutely Delicious. My first receipe was VENETIAN CHICKEN WITH CREAMY PESTO SAUCE. Excellent. Then, i made The ULITIMATE GRILLED BURGERS. Great. Also, I purchased THE ICE CREAM MAKER BOWL and I made ROCKY ROAD ICE CREAM. Awesome. My family love what I have been creating in the kitchen lately, although I have always been the Family Cook, and I am enjoying this book. • Basically Okay, (But NOT Vegetarian Friendly)- Our Grade: C
Our review in short. I bought this book intending it as a gift for an older relative, but unfortunately, like myself she is a very strict vegetarian, and so while the recipes in this Kitchenaid cookbook has some value in terms of being a starting point for gourmet cooking and providing a basic explanation for recommended use of some of the more advanced attachments (pasta cutter, veggie slicer, ice-cream maker), there really weren't any recipes that were suited to vegan-vegetarian diets that did not require conversion from meat, egg friendly recipes... So, if you are a not a vegetarian, you may definitely find the recipes useful, but for vegetarians, you will have to work out how to eliminate or substitute the eggs or meat, etc. that nearly all of the recipes will call for in this book. And in hindsight, I don't actually recall seeing any specific rec's in terms of if it had any good vegetarian recipes or not, so maybe this review will help out a bit in that respect. And while I do have specific vegetarian cookbooks, I had hoped that there would be at least some actual vegetarian-to-vegan friendly recipes in the book ready to be tested out as-is, without me needing to make my usual adjustments and/or creating whole new vegan-vegetarian friendly recipes as usual. So, that being said, i still think the book is okay, not the best ever, but okay, in a general sense of having some usefulness in terms of generating ideas. But, if looking for a gift, it is more specifically suited for home cooks who actually eat meat and eggs. Oh, I forgot to mention that I got this book (hardcover edition) on sale for just over half off the list price, so it wasn't a total loss and as i said the specific information for using the pasta cutters and veggie slicers were actually helpful. Overall, it's an okay book, just not for vegetarians. Our grade: C; or 3Stars! ... show more

  • Classic
I bought this book as a gift for my 23 year old daughter who told me that there were most interesting recipes in this book My daughter is a pretty good cook but seemed intrigued by the recipes. So for me it turned out to be a classic cookbook for a classic cook.

  • Not good for basic recipes
Not a good book if you are looking for basic recipes, would not recommend. Was looking for bread recipes as advertised. Returning!
