That was all they needed to be work ready. They come with a protective polish. This will rub off on fabric so wipe it down with the included cloth. The insole is very comfortable. I see there is a multipiece insole which has a removable insert to expand the width from d to ee. I measure an e width but did not need to remove the insert. Innovative speed lace design. I wear a size 9 in Nike, and a size 9 in these fits perfect. My only complaint is the ankle area and top of the tongue is very stiff and will rub your leg raw, unless you have longer socks, until broken in. Outside of that, they are very comfortable. The boots themselves are okay, still pretty stiff but it will be like that. But the fabric used on the tongues is very weak. It snapped the 4th day I had them.

I wear boots up to ten or more hours each day. While the boot is wide enough, the upper part where it is on the calf was causing pain. I would try a taller boot instead of the shorter pair.
