  • Not a bad pump.
Color: Orange
I like to keep a portable compressor in each of our cars for emergencies and occasional use. I usually get corded pumps because I prefer not to have to worry about finding a dead battery when I finally pull the pump out for use, but I made an exception this time because I found the pump's form factor interesting. The OFISPEED TGBOX Tire Inflator is fairly compact and easy to use though there are a few things to consider. The pump body is a little over 9" long and 2.25" in diameter. That's a little big to be storing in your car's cup holder or your pants pocket as the Amazon images (included here) depict - unless your car has an eight inch deep cup holder and your pants are much bigger than they should be. The pump IS small enough to store under a car seat, inside a spare tire well and maybe in a door pocket. It will even fit in a standard kitchen drawer. The TGBOX pump works pretty well. The buttons can be a little intimidating at first, but once used were fine. I don't expect pumps of this size (and especially battery-operated ones) to fill tires quickly and that was the case here. I found the pressure indicated on the screen to be about two PSI off my favorite handheld gauge. It wasn't an issue for me me as I usually set pumps to put two extra PSI into the tire anyway so I can precisely adjust it downward with my gauge. You also tend to lose a chunk of air when trying to unscrew the fill hose from the tire - not such a big deal on a car, but frustrates me to no end when filling bike tires. The pump came with three attachments - a presta valve adapter, a sports ball needle, and a general filler for inflatables. They all *should* store in the special little compartment on the back of the unit, but for some reason the included needle was bigger than the compartment could handle. They kind of cheaped out and didn't include ANY sort of bag or pouch to store the pump and bits in. While the attachments will (should) fit in the little compartment, the hose doesn't have anyplace to go. You'll likely either leave it attached or use a rubber band to store it with the pump body. I didn't expect top-end professional performance from this pump going in so I wasn't disappointed. I'm happy with the product though I'm dropping a star for the lack of a storage bag and the ill-fitting attachment. ... show more

  • Nice item to have on hand for home or emergency use
Color: Orange
I was anxious to try out this air compressor after receiving it. It arrived with nearly a full charge in the battery so plugging it in to fully charge it didn't take long. I drive a pickup truck with large all terrain tires. Each of the four tires on my truck were at 31 PSI - below the recommended inflation pressure of 35 PSI. I set the pressure of the air compressor to 35 PSI and used it to inflate each of the four tires on my truck. It was able to inflate each tire from 31 PSI to 35 PSI in five minutes or less. I then tried using the air compressor to add air to the tires on my wife's car. The recommended inflation pressure on the tires of her car is 33 PSI - each tire was inflated to 30 PSI. I was able to inflate two of the four tires on her car to 33 PSI before the display began to flash from overheating and it became difficult to change the settings. (I overlooked the recommendation in the manual to not use the air compressor for more than 10 minutes at a time.) This small air compressor will be handy to have on hand for topping off auto tires to recommended levels and for my riding lawn mower and wheelbarrow tires. If I had any knocks against the air compressor it would be that the hose is too short. If the valve on the tires of my truck are at the top the shortness of the hose causes the air compressor to just dangle instead of resting on the ground. Trying to position the hose and compressor on a tall tire can allow the hose to twist and loosen from the compressor body so one needs to be careful when putting it in place on the tire - otherwise you'll get air leakage at the hose/compressor junction. Also, after extended use the brass connector at the end of the hose where it screws into the casing of the compressor gets very hot. There is a piece of plastic at the end of the hose that attaches to the compressor body that can be used to grip the brass connector for tightening. I accidentally allowed this plastic piece to slide up the hose and touched the brass connector at the end of the hose; it was so hot that it burned my finger and caused a blister to form. There is a small compartment on the body of the compressor that is supposed to hold the included air nozzle (for air mattresses, exercise balls, etc), and needle (for football, basketball, soccerball, volleyball). The nozzle will fit in one of the slots in the compartment but the needle is too long to so the lid won't fit. There is also another brass connector with both male and female threads (with an O-ring at the female side) that I'm not sure what its use is - it's too large to screw into the compressor body and neither the nozzle nor needle will screw into the female side. ... show more
