I've used it for about six months now, and my experience has been great thus far. If you want a cheap wireless mouse (or really any wireless mouse) this one is a very good option. I will go into some very specific things later in this review, and it could get very length and technical, so be aware. Check this video for a demonstration: [...] THE MAIN BUTTONS: The left, right, and middle click buttons are all the normal mouse-style buttons: Small rectangular buttons with a good click, but not too much force required to actuate them. They are like normal mouse buttons that pretty much all mice use nowadays. The main thing is that the middle mouse button uses this style of button, which is very nice because most mice use a tactile switch instead, which require more force, and doesn't always activate when the button clicks. BTW, this is a tactile switch: [...] The main click buttons are okay. Really the only issue is that the force required to hold them down is a lot lower than what is needed to actuate them. This makes fast clicking a little bit more difficult, as you may end up just clicking the button once, and then all your other movements will just be holding the button down rather than letting it go and re-actuating it. I can't think of a concise way to say this, but it's not too big of an issue, and I've gotten more used to it. The back-forward buttons are of the small tactile switches that I mentioned previously, but they feel really nice, so this isn't an issue. TRACKING: Tracking is very nice on this mouse; I haven't experienced any issues so far, and I've been playing quite a few games that require precise mouse movements. I wasn't as good as I normally am, but this is just because the mouse is new, and I need to get used to it. Having the mouse sensor on the left-hand side makes my mouse movement style work a lot better than mice where it's on the right. It places the sensor closer to your thumb, so 'twisting' the mouse clockwise raises the mouse cursor, which makes movement more precise for me. It's in just the right place. MOUSE WHEEL: The ratchet on the mouse wheel is pretty well defined, but it's not the best mouse wheel I've EVER used; It's certainly better than the cheap wireless Logitech mice I've used before, and it feels very high quality. I haven't yet had an instance where the ratchet clicks to a new position, but the computer thinks it's between two positions. This is when you scroll, and the scroll jumps around a little bit, because the computer thinks that you're switching between two different positions, even though your mouse's wheel is physically fine. Anyway, this doesn't happen with this mouse, so YAY! The wheel is a bit lower than most mice, however. The top of the wheel is closer in height to the rest of the mouse than most mice are. But again, I got used to this very quickly, and it's a very usable scroll wheel. INTERNALS / TEARDOWN: Of course, I had to take this thing apart as soon as I got it in order to see what's inside. The screws are located under the two rear pads, and I found that the best way to get at them is to use an exacto knife or something to cut a slit where the screw is, and then put a screw driver through it to unscrew the screws. Then the mouse can come apart. Once inside, I noticed that the scroll wheel position sensor is a potentiameter (maybe, it could be a rotary encoder) instead of an infrared sensor like what my other cheap mice use. I don't know if this is better, but it seems to be. Other than that, the circuit board looks a bit cheap, but it does the job, and all the components are standard sizes, so you could replace the buttons later if you want to (which I might do). MY USAGE OF EXTRA BUTTONS: I've downloaded this little piece of software to remap some of the buttons on this mouse: https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/xmousebuttoncontrol.htm It's nice because I never really use the forward-backward navigation buttons, so I use them a function keys that activate certain control profiles. For instance, if I hold dow the forward button, the rest of my mouse controls are mapped to do things that include CTRL+C, CTRL+V, ALT+TAB, wheel-tilt left, and wheel-tilt right. If I hold down the back button, I can CTRL+TAB, launch Firefox, launch the calculator, CTRL+scroll to zoom in, and CTRL+scroll to zoom out. All without ever touching my keyboard! For reference, I bought this mouse on November 28th, 2015 for $9.97. The current date that I'm writing this review is August 4th, 2017. The mouse is still intact and working as well as it had when I first bought it. You would expect a cheap mouse like this break after so much time, but it has maintained itself quite well. It helps a bit that this mouse is on the heftier side, the weight really helps. 2.65 ounces isn't much, but i had been using a dinkier mouse than this one. I have average sized hands, maybe smaller so take that snip-it with a grain of salt. When I bought it, it took some time for me to get used to it. Like any item, I took some time to break into the setup of the mouse. The clicks were a little heavy, but that changed after some weeks of use. The wheel is nice and smooth. Over the course of my usage, it hasn't broken, hasn't caught itself on its own parts. The middle mouse button STILL works splendidly. The click function still works, it doesn't take that much force to use. I do a fair amount of web browsing on top of gaming. This mouse works very well for both cases. The DPI switch was a nice addition to have in the beginning. Finding the right DPI to use in different scenarios and tasks, this mouse is a good start. Although throughout my own maturity I realized I didn't actually need very high DPI for most of my tasks, but to each their own. The circuitry and programming inside the mouse saves battery life quite well. When the mouse is not in use for more than 10 minutes at a time, it goes to sleep and conserves power. This eliminates the need to keep turning off the power to the mouse every time you stop using the mouse. It makes it easier to transport too. You can't awaken the mouse by moving it around, but instead by clicking the mouse buttons a couple times or rolling the mouse wheel. So a simple shuffle won't unnecessarily waste power. But if you are still inclined to turn off the switch per habit, again to each their own. The DPI switch acts as both, obviously a switch, but also as an indicator. Whenever the battery life gets low or whenever you need to start finding a fresh battery, the DPI light will start periodically flashing red. The mouse will still work even if the light is flashing, but by the time the light stops flashing while in use, the battery is dead. It runs on a simple AA battery, which will last you quite a while. In my usage, each battery through this mouse lasts me anywhere from 2-3 months. I game in my spare time, mind you. The sleep module works really well. Probably part of the reason this lasted as long as it did. The thumb/side buttons are not only comfortable but easy to use. You can't accidentally bump into the buttons to activate it, these buttons aren't that touchy. The thumb imprint works really well. It gives a relaxing position to keep my thumb under extended use. Speaking of comfortably, if you've ever looked at your hand in rest position (palm facing up), this mouse will cradle that position very well. It's not perfect, it is a medium sized mouse but it is contoured very well. The USB connector holds a very strong connection with the mouse. When you need to transport it, and not lose it by accident, it tucks nicely in the light-spring slot on the bottom of the mouse. It makes for very easy transportation. This is the only qualm and my only con about this mouse: the shape. I will not lie this mouse is shaped a little strange. By nature, human fingers vary in length, specifically speaking, the middle finger is longer than the index. The picture isn't lying; the right-click button which I typically use with my middle finger is shorter than the left click button which i use with my index. I had to adopt a claw position on my mouse (curved fingers into a more clicking position) to use this mouse as my middle finger kept going over the button. I still think that button should be longer, but again, that's my opinion. All in all, Good work, Tecknet. Edit: About a week after I wrote this review, then the mouse started giving me problems. A few days after posting the below comments I was contacted by Kathy who was a representative of the Hippidion US Store. She explained to me that there was a misunderstanding about them not having a return or refund policy. She offered to send me another mouse try,. The new item arrived about four days after I was contacted. This item worked very well and I have had no issues with it. I wish to commend Kathy and her efforts to resolve my problem. The mouse is well worth the money spent and I would recommend this seller. Did not work when arrived. Tried three different batteries thinking I might have had some dead ones. Power light never came on. Plugged the micro transmitter in the USB port and was given a message that there was not enough power to activate it. Thought I might of had an issue with the computer I was on, so I tried it on another computer, had the same issues. Seller does not allow returns, so I contacted Amazona about my issues. They were great, took my informations and gave me a total refund. Do not know if this is a common issue with this mouse, but I will not deal with a seller who will not exchange or refund on a faulty item. ... show more
